Dear Testers, why are you only related on the cpu usage. What would be the same important and interresting is the latency from in and out! Maybe next time we can add this...

With everyone using 512 samples for this test the latency shouldn't differ very much at all. ;)

It does definitely: On my G4 I get about half the latency as on my macbookpro...

This test is mainly about comparing CPU useage across different computers. Latency is usually more directly affected by the soundcard and it's drivers, and thus is beyond the scope of this test.

1. 16%
2. Custom Built - Asus M2N32-SLI-Deluxe Neforce 590 - TI Firewire Chipset
3. Win XP Pro SP2 (13 Processing running idle)
4. Live 6.0.9
5. AMD Phenom X4 9600 Quad Core @ 2.3ghz x 4 - Stock Speed
6. 4gb Corsair XMS 667 MHZ DDR2
7. Presonus Firestudio + DigimaxFS x 2 (Stock driver, the other is still in beta after 1 to 2 years - laggin bitches!!)
8. 3x7200 16mb Cache - SATAII
9. 8 Tracks - Shit, this thing will do +100 tracks.. lemme at em!

Havent upgraded to 7 because ive been a bit apprehensive with the bugs and what not. 6.0.9 has been running solid for me.. 6.0.10 tripped out on a song the first time running, So i stayed at 6.0.9.

Trust me though, i want that drum rack!! I also like the rex file support.. Oh, and thank god someone finally figure out that its freakin BLOWS to have to solo something bussed to a subgroup AND have to solo the the subgroup track too before you hear the shit.. Now it does it automatically.. I might upgrade just for that feature alone.. That shit drives me nuts on a regular basis and slows me down! Damn you, stable 6.0.9! Damn you!!

No. Optional on some models only.

Macbooks have usually been 4200 or 5400 with 5400 now the de facto.

The 15" MBP did not have a 7200 rpm drive option until a few months ago, only the 17" had it available a while back. Good move to offer the 7200 rpm drive on the 15" model.
