It takes a bit of tweaking to get it to this guy's standard, the dock thing at the bottom takes a bit of work to get going i think but the fancy window effects, rotating desktops etc all function like that after installing a single control panel.

It's going to be interesting to see where all this is going to end up, I'm certainly going along for the ride.

It runs perfectly on my Nvidia Gforce 6200 which cost me about 50 quid. Basically, any 3d capable card that has a Linux driver. ATI recently open sourced their drivers so they're a safe bet, Intel also, I have no probs with my Nvidia though.

this is the reason I run a separate music machine. Its lean and optimised and doesnt need any eye candy as Im rarely doing anything thats not in front of a DAW interface anyway.

The official XP Royale theme is also quite nice if thats your bag.

Im also loving compviz on ubuntu. The wobbly windows are strangely fascinating!

Just stumbled over this one while looking around youtube, it looks like a newer window management system than CompizFusion.

There are other ones too, one called Metisse is also worth looking at. Lots of exciting development going on in the Linux camp.

Edit. Turns out Loooking Glass is being developed by Sun!

I only just found that Looking glass info while looking for something else, things are really moving fast, if Adobe would release on Linux I think there'd be a major paradigm shift.

Actually, Adobe's new "Air" evironment runs on all 3 platfroms, so maybe they are thinking about it.

Shouldn't the title here be changed to "How to rice your PC to run like a Mac"?

Mac people don't talk about options because you don't need any. I kid. I guess it's great for some people who like to have more personal control over their system.

Little cranky over here cause my boss let everybody go home early except me, including himself. This wasn't decided until 2 hours ago. One of those "I'm going to head out. Think you can handle everything? Great" without waiting for a reponse as he walks out the door situations.

I think that definitely qualifies you for some FREE office supplies. I'd drop my pants and go fart in his chair, what an asshole.

this will cheer you up.

edit - oh, just found out that that's Margaret Nolan aka Vicky Kennedy. It's from a movie out of the 70's called Carry on Girls

That got me through the last hour of my day when I too said fuck it and went home. Thanks.

I don't know exactly what you do for a living but I am starting to believe that it involves making animated gifs.
