The Shining, The Orphanage (El Orphano), A Scanner Darkly, Halloween, and actually Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch were surprisingly good :D

The Wicker Man - the original 1973 version

Just saw it after not seeing it in many years.

WOW. It really holds up. Christopher Lee says it is his best performance; I'd have to agree with him.

As for recent movies, my recommendations are "The Dark Knight" and Woody Allen's newest movie, "Vicky Christina Barcelona." :)

Kubrick

Post by johnathon doe » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:05 pm

Basically any Kubrick film.

But, all time favourite:

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057012/

Paths of Glory is pretty good too, especially for all you proud freedom fighters...what war's really like.
Actually, The Thin Red Line would be a good double bill with this.

peace

p.s. I love watching movies...keep em coming! :D
