can some please explain how the transpose and channel buttons work.

D

you can change midi channel. the midi channel you see when you press a pad is the midi channel that is transmitted. the midi channel corresponds to pad number on the physical padKONTROL unit.

transpose moves up and down octaves 0-11.12-23,24-35,36-47,48-59,60-71,72-83,84-95,96-111

hi,
this app was tested quite thoroughly running on PCs with Ableton Live 7 and midi Yoke - BUT, this was using XP... so I suspect the culprit here may have been Vista?

I've just installed XP on a separate partition.

Same thing happens - Ableton crashes CPU 300%

I think it might be how i'm setting it up,

Could someone please post a screen grab of their perferences in Live.

I've got it running on my MAC, followed the same configuration using midi Yoke.

thanks

Sounds like a midi feedback problem. Try thinking your way through the virtual cables... do the signals loop back? In that case it could cause feedback, that could, potentially, bog down your system totally.

That may be as much as I can help without getting a full breakdown/screenshots.
Let me know.
Andreas.

Perhaps a few quick screenshots of the app window and the midi setup in Live? I'd love to help.

First off, thanks to Timur for posting his vid, and the link to selthym's set
here

Second off, thanks to selthym for the concept that makes this work, its a fantastic idea!

Third off, Thanks to the Covert Operator's for giving us pk[squared]

Fourth off, here's my 16 step 16 sound basic step sequencer, built in live 6, it's got lots of room to adapt to your personal needs.

This is for OS X and you must have IAC Driver enabled, as well as pk[squared] configured correctly.

Simply transpose up to t.36 (pad 4), load up samples in impulse and simplers, and presets in the operators

each midi channel will give you a different sound

right click and save

Thats great mike, cant wait to test it.

DJing with the padkontrol + PK squared - PROBLEM

I guys, i want to use the padkontrol to trigger clips in the session view. I normally split tunes into sections giving me complete control.

4 decks - each with it own channel - 16 pad assignments

Is anyone else experiencing random lights appearing for no reason. This is really annoying because i need to correct light to correspond with the clip that is playing.

Sorry does this make sense...

We hope we can simplify it in the near future and add a few fixes.

I found a cool use for this hack but unfortunately I also found a bug. So when we do the bugfix, it may have a cool new feature.

Basically, you use the notes to trigger clips. If the clips are playing the pad will be lit up. This works but if you trigger multiple pads that trigger clips on the same track, all the lights get messed up.
Should be fun to play with once it works properly.

To give you an idea why we all should demand OSC support in Live:
With OSC from Live going to Pk [Squared] we could make the clip names scroll on the screen of the Pad Kontrol. A man can dream....
Hoffman, is this likely to be fixed.

Probably. Not immediately though, because we're currently swamped with projects and there's only so much that 2 people can do.
Since we're is looking into also supporting the Micro Kontrol, the next update will most likely be for both MIDI controllers.

Hello. I'm using Live 5 with a Padkontrol (still new to it).

I'd like to know how to use the X-Y pad on the padkontrol to move the x-y graph on audio effects (for instance Flanger has Delay Time and Feedback).

I tried loading the Live preload scene from the Korg Editor Librarian but all of the pads lit up red and none of them worked, so I guess I have to map them myself, which is working well so far except for using the x-y pad with audio effects.

By the way, I'm new here so please link me if this has been discussed before here.

Thanks.

Hello. I'm stuck. I've followed all the instructions in the manual.

After I set the "To Pad Kontrol 1 Ctrl" and "From Pad Kontrol 1 Port A" and then hit "Enter Native Mode" nothing happens on my Pad Kontrol. It should read "T.C.O." per the manual.

Note that when I open PK[Squared], there's a error in the status window that reads: "error: patcher: missing arguments for message "close"
coll: finished, 5 lines"

Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

sorry mate, can't really debug your system over the internets like this... if you want you can post screenshots of your live midi preferences and the [pk] app, then we should be able to help you out....

Cheers,
Andreas
