"Studio" style use of Live

Post by quandry » Sun Jan 25, 2004 6:08 pm

Here's a link to one of my bands' tunes that we made 100% in Live. The tunes are for our demo cd, and were recorded live, "in the (basement) studio". Check out Rule of Thump at:

My first track in nearly 2 years, a new direction and I've gone quite minimal. It was arranged entirely in Live, using bits of cello and piano fragments, glitches and tv static.

all the glitching in this was done with clip parameters, most of them in real time.

Good stuff, dirtystudios. I like the vibraphonesque stuff coming in the latter half of the track, its cool how the vibe gets more happy and melodic, but still with some of the glitches that continue throughout. fun. Is the voice that starts it off from an airport or trainstation? Sounds like one of those public address announcements, but all funked out!

thanks quandry, and you guessed it. it's from lax. i recorded it from the built in mic on my ibook when i went to pick up a freind. you can make out the voice saying something like "all passengers for flight something or other please something at carousel number one" and "we thank you for flying united flight something or other". i forget what i ran it through, all i remember is a gate was the last thing.

music beta testing - previewing upcoming CD release

Post by Per Boysen » Fri Jan 30, 2004 3:02 pm

Hi All,

I would like to invite anyone interested in ambient live electronica/looping
to listen to the upcoming CD with per2per. When we played at a festival
this summer they recorded us to DAT. We are quite happy with the
recording and plan to release it on CD. But we really don't know how to
market the beast since it is 55:56 long. If it's not "a single album" it might
be "an album single".... or what? And is there a relevant "musical style"
to file it under? We're open to any suggestions.

The beta listening page is to be found at http://www.looproom.com/p2p
and please don't be shy to post comments to the guest book ;-)

Thank you

Per Boysen
