Back up cassette tapes

Post by Scorpion2012 » Thu Aug 06, 2009 3:00 pm

Is there a way to record from a cassette player to ableton? Can't get player to track. It's either something simple that I'm missing, or impossible to do. Please help if you can.

does your cassette player have an Aux out? if yes then simply run a phono to jack between your hi fi and your audio interface, and arm the appropriate input in ableton innit.

if not, i guess it might be kind of fun to play around with recording the cassette players speaker with a mic, although this will be rubbish if you are attempting to preserve the cassette's content as accurately as possible.

most hi-fi's, even the really old ones will have an aux out tho.

No aux. out. Tried to match up the mic input on the computer to the headphones out on the boombox. I suppose I can try and find a separate cassette player if I need to.

it should go the other way round: ableton to cassette.

Oh man, we need an "export to cassette"-option for the rendering.

serious, man, you can record anything you want with live. get a cheapo soundcard if your computer's mic in fails. Try the line in first, though.
