Only if you have the new 3gs, it's not enabled on the existing 3g phones.

Alternatively you can jailbreak your existing iphone and install cycorder, which is a video recorder, that kicks out some pretty good quality video for a phone. You can also install qik and stream live video from your phone. Loads of other cool things you can do with a jailbroken phone.

Jail-breaking is completely reversible should you need to take the phone in for service etc, so don't worry about it causing problems like that.

Try searching on Gizmodo, they had an easy to follow guide a couple months back. I think Im finally upgrading my 1st gen iPhone to the 3GS next week, I use the thing enough and would really like the faster speed....

Iphone dev team are the ones who release an app called quickpwn, it's quick and easy, upgrade your phone the normal way, then run quickpwn to jailbreak it with about 3 clicks of the mouse.
