Mrs. Neb Finally HOME After a Life-Threatening Infection
Re: Mrs. Neb in the hospital with a life-threatening infection
This seems scary, I'm glad to read she's better now, hopefully she won't relapse. My best wishes to both of you.

Many lurkers coming out of the woodwork just to show their sympathies.....
I'm one of them.
Beaming my blessings from the Netherlands while I'm counting them....
Good luck, the two of you

Update: So far so good. Over 24 hours stable. They have begun the process of weening her off the ventilator. That could take a while as her lungs begin to breathe on their own. She is conscious and can write us notes to communicate. Will post an update later today after we get to the hospital and get more info.

Flesh-eating bacteria? My goodness. What kind of world is this?
Sounds like Mrs. Neb is beating this thing and getting better. That's really good news.
As far as my new age psychic approach to prayer is concerned... I know it sounds goofy, but I swear by it. I don't think there is any right way or wrong way to pray. I am a man of science. I dig Western medicine. But you have to admit that there is some really funky phenomenon in our world. The woman who taught me about the "green beam of light" thing was particularly attuned to the funky side of the force. I witnessed some super crazy stuff when I hung out with that family. I'd tell the story of the time that their old pet cat's soul was transferred into their new baby kitten's body, but I don't want to taint my reputation and good name in this community.
Glad to hear Ms. Neb is on the mend. I'll be checking in for further updates. It's also nice to see all of these lurking old school posters chime in with words of support.

Re: Mrs. Neb in the hospital with a life-threatening infection
Update: She is stable for yet another day...good news. However, she is more tired today because they are weening her off the respirator, meaning she spends 3 hours twice a day breathing on her own, which wipes her out. So she's not communicating as much as yesterday. Her fluids are coming out nicely and her body weight is normalizing. All good signs. Again, I won't celebrate till the tube comes out...so far so good.

Update: The hospital is encouraged by her comeback. As a result, they want to take out the tube today if she does well breathing on her own. So we have to keep her calm, which means no visitors today. Once the tube is out, we can all go have a drink and toast to her health.

That's great news! Let me know when we are going to do this toast. I will virtually clink glasses with you.nebulae wrote:Update: The hospital is encouraged by her comeback. You can drink it with me in person. I'll be in NYC in late June.
