Despite the advantage of using more RAM, there is not much benefit of using a 64-bit OS - at least not for audio applications.
hmm...odd..

that is, if sample-engines are not counted as audio applications...
Running many Vst-i's seems to benefit a lot from the extra RAM, as shown here:

I run Ableton 7.0.1 on a XP 64bit system. It runs just fine. I don't understand what the issue is?

why on earth would Ableton expend considerable resources and developer time making a 64 bit version of use to very few PC geek hobbyists?

Theres a whole list of things id rather see them address first.

so there won't be any errors running it, just won't see any added benfits?

"we currently do NOT support 64-bit versions of XP or Vista. Live itself
may work to an extent, but we cannot guarantee full compatibility with
64-bit audio and MIDI drivers at this time. "

I would not post messages from staff on Forum as they might start being very carfull giving honest replys about opinions on operating systems.

I am happy with 32bit for now. All the hits you ever heard where written on less!

I have not many problems running it in VISTA. Granted its on a brand new PC with fresh install and it is locked down from installing other wanky little programs etc.

The only progam I have never had an issue with regarding stability is Reason. Its feels like hardware and always does what it is supposed to do.

True, I thought of that after the fact. I was happy though that Ableton gave
a good response. Did not post to bash ableton just to get the info out there.
Anyways I'll edit the post.
