Just ordered one and cant wait for it to arrive.
I already forsee not knowing how to sync tempo.... can someone lay out a step by step?
I'm not the smartest dude on the block and I figured it out . When you get it just install the software and make sure Ableton detects the MPD. Also make sure you are using the first preset in the MPD. Peace

Rahlo what do you mean by 3 diff controllers could you expand on that a bit and looking forward to your live looping video.rahlo wrote:It is, imo. You get a lot more control and flexibility with the 32. You can basically make it 3 different controllers with the control banks, which is real cool.benmiron wrote:is it worth the 100 bucks more then the 24?
The 32 has 3 control bank buttons (A, B, & C) that basically give you 24 assignable faders and 24 buttons instead of just 8 of each. Obviously, with Live you can map those to whatever you want—not just faders. You could make each control bank into its own controller that's assigned to different aspects of your studio or live set up.EgAD wrote:Rahlo what do you mean by 3 diff controllers could you expand on that a bit and looking forward to your live looping video.rahlo wrote:It is, imo. The 4 pad banks turns your 16 pads into 64 pads that you can use for anything. For instance, you can make pad bank A & B your 2 octave keyboard (with 8 extra keys), then assign the remaining 2 pad banks to trigger loops, clip envelopes, engage filters and plug-ins, or whatever you need. There are many different things you could do with a program like Live where just about everything is able to be assigned to a midi controller.
Does that make sense?

Care to elaborate what issues you had and how you resolved them? I have the SL Zero and didnt quite anticipate there being conflict issues.kb420 wrote:I had a conflict with the Automap 2.0 drivers at first, but I figured that out.
Thanks for the review.
[EDIT TO ADD] bah - never mind - didnt finish reading the posts to realise that the MPD32 has an automap feature as well!!

i bought the MPD24 (after months of waiting for it to come out) and by golly was i disappointed, i mean it was physically built so well, the pads were fine (not pad-feel fussy) but the functionality was terrible compared to the competition TF and PK (even my Axiom pads) i'll probably go on, so to keep it brief
1. 360 degree knobs weren't incremental/decremental making them worst then none 360 degree knobs (despite what the akai's product manager said on a youtube vid)
2. pads only send note, aftertouch/pressure and program/bank change messages, you can't send midi cc message's (whhhy!!..4 banks...the possibility's ) even my Axiom pads does that (and more).
3. one fixed velocity level 'full', come on! my axiom does 'low', 'moderate' and 'full' and ahem! 4 velocity curves (which were crap) including the default one was pitiful, axiom has 13.
4. and the transport buttons was just pointless, just MMC message..just MMC wtf my axio.......
so i brought it right back to the shop
someone tell me if the MPD32 has improved?

with regards to the banks on mpd 32 - does anybody know I if would be able to set up the expression pedal and foot switches to have a different function for each bank. I'd really love to ditch my trigger finger and fcb1010 for one of these - kind of depends on this.
still not available in the uk yet - really looking forward to having a go.

Just bought an MPD32 and returned it. All the sliders, knobs and buttons are great, BUT, the pads seem lower and less robust then the MPD24. In fact the pads in the lower corner were loser then the ones at the top. I had the 24 and 32 side by side and the 32's pad were unacceptable to me.
Guitar Center had two, and I tried them both, and the pads were both the same, lose.
Though, I hear people are modifying the 24/32 with the MPC pads. But for $299, plus tax, the stock pads shouldn't be inconsistent.
