HELP:Volume slider for midi track?
Is there a way to have a volume slider on a midi track(without using the external instrument Ableton device)?
Pleaaaaaaaaase!!
Thanks

Thanks
I want to adjust the volume of a midi track just like an audio track, like cubase, logic, protools does...i would like a regular fader instead of those leds...am I missing something?honsey wrote:i dont know what you want to do with that, but maybe the midiplugin velocity is what you're searching for?

PS: thanks for editing your previous statement and then chastising me for answering the wrong question
??? The volume sliders on a MIDI track are the same as on an audio track
If you want to control an external instrument, you can also use MIDI CC7

...right, but without volume my bcf2000 fader stays down, the velocity plugin seems to be a solution, but why can't they make a SIMPLE "midi volume" like for internal midi instruments???If you want to control an external instrument, you can also use MIDI CC7
it sounds like you don't use the External Instrument plug?
that gives a volume slider to a midi track.
A midi track with no instrument = dots
A midi track with an instrument = slider
A midi track using routing to send to an external instrument = dots
A midi track using External Instrument plug to send = slider

I don't Because you must route the audio back in the soundcard, and I will not have enough physical audio input on my digi002R to map each midi channel back in a separate audio in.longjohns wrote:it sounds like you don't use the External Instrument plug?
I could just use the slider but the fact is that the "slider" created by the "external instruments plug" affect the audio and not the midi. What I would like is a MIDI VOLUME PLUG that can be inserted on a midi track.(maybe I should go to the whishlist???)
Thanks longjohns

What about "pottards" from :

I've never used MIDi plugins other than Live's, so I can make no garuntee that it'll work, but it looks like 12 Sliders hooked up to 12 selectable MIDI CC's.

I just wish there was more MIDI plugs (like a midi beat repeat) in Live.

I was such in a mess with my own brain..
TO CLEAR MY POST:
Problem:
With a BCF2000 in MackieControl mode, no volume/velocity fader automation possible on midi tracks without instruments (external midi out gear).
Solutions:
1.(not for me)Use the External Instruments Ableton device plug (wich is nice) and route the audio of my external gear in my soundcard (but I don't have enough audio input to map each separate midi channel)
2.(for me).Forget the Mackie emulation and then use a Velocity plug on each track with a proper midi cc (7 or what ever)
Try the arpeggiator.... perhaps with a scale limiter after it. Works great on drums, you can trigger fills quite easily. Add a random plug before the scale if you want your fills to vary a little bit (and scale will help you limit the results to something like "kick, snare, hat" or just "kick hat" or something.robocop wrote: I just wish there was more MIDI plugs (like a midi beat repeat) in Live.

Yes, the arpeggiator is very nice on drums, definetly the way to golaird wrote:Try the arpeggiator... perhaps with a scale limiter after it. Works great on drums, you can trigger fills quite easily.
