Live 7.02 clicks

Post by Angstrom » Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:29 am

Live 7.02 clicks when I listen to audio from the app, even when I set my buffer size to 512. I have an RME fireface, usually it runs at 128.
The audio clicks when the cpu meter is at around 35% . The rendered audio has no clicks.

Live 6 does not click. Live 6 does not glitch. I have lots of ram and a modern processor.

I know this is no use to anyone but I just want to make some damn music and not have the damn application either be clicking at me or glitching at me.

Same here. At the current state of affairs, Live 7 is not usable with low latencies, really disappointing. I started a thread about this some time ago, but did not get a single response from ableton (yet).

the oddest thing is that changing the buffer size doesn't make any difference. If it starts clicking then I will get the same clicks at a 48 sample buffer as I do with a 1024 buffer!

of course there's always the chance that something has changed in my computer-soundcard. But I'm going to spend a week working with L6 and see how that behaves

did you restart live when changing buffer sizes? If not, try it and see if it makes a difference.

I got some clicks at around 35% as well
but only when i turn on suppatrigger or livecut.
With Lives devices my system is running smooth!

It's a Mac Mini 1.83
2 gigs of ram
and Leopard

Still in 7.0.3b3

With Mac Mini running Firewave card and Macbook with RME Fireface 400.

With the RME on the macbook I cant even change the audio buffer.
Anything at 48khz at a buffer size out of the range of 110-128 will cause nasty distortion.
Sounds like feedback distortion with the clicks you get while changing the size of an unsynced delay.
