Did your settings carry over from 6 to 7? Perhaps something is not set in the options?

But you say the MIDI interfaces work with other programs?
Really hard to believe that Live is just broken for MIDI IO.
It's surely got to be a configuration problem in Live.
Maybe start a new Live Set with just one MIDI track?

that's the problem - i can not believe it... :x

i am no noob to computer and installation related stuff and this forum is now my LAST chance to find any solution before installing windows again...

another mystery: when my Remote SL Zero is turned OFF MIDI doesn't work in any other application although it is running on its own port and NO other device is connected with it... 8O :?

...going mad here...

Not quite following you, but I'm a bit tired. Try getting MIDI-OX and carefully trace where midi is and is not showing up.

and me once again... 8)

after a new XP install (Win XP Pro SP2) the problem occurs again!

there are 2 M-Audio 1010LT installed in the system and running properly!
i am using an Alesis ION as masterkeyboard that is connected to one M-Audio 1010LT via MIDI-IN/-OUT. i tried both cards with the same result...
(for reproducing this MIDI-problem i connected the ION only, the Zero SL is not installed)

Live 6.0.5, 6.0.7, 6.0.10, cubase 3+4 and reaper are working fine and doing what they should do with incoming MIDI... ;)
this problem occurs in Live 7.0.1 DEMO only.

so now i am not sure buying the full version because of this problem... please help!

I would recommend posting a screenshot of your midi configuration in Live 7.
Odds are that's where your problem is.
If you don't do that, you should contact Ableton's support.

Hello,

if you are 100% sure that your MIDI settings are correct, but it's still not working properly, unfold the port options by clicking the small triangle on the corresponding MIDI port and set the port type to MME instead of DirectMusic. If that still won't help, send an email to support@ableton.com

ok, after changing from "DirectMsuic" to "MME" same problem...

after changing the ASIO driver to "MME/DirectX" and THEN changing the MIDI port type to "MME" it works.
then i had to change back to the ASIO driver and its working properly now BUT i have to use the "MME" port type - why? is there any disadvantage now?

thank you for your help :!:

ok, i think i have found the malefactor! :D

after installing the newest version of REAPER i unchecked the "ReaRoute ASIO"-driver so that it is disabled and now ALL is working fine!
even the Remote Zero SL is working nearly perfect (on OS 3 ;) ).

but a little downer: its working with the "MME"-ports only, "DirectMusic" is not supported... WHY :?: :(

...anyhow, now i am going to buy Live 7... 8)
