I'm this close to getting this laptop for Live 7

It is a bit on the expensive side at $2,299.95 but I really like the specs a lot. Are there any other comparable laptops out there I should consider before pulling the trigger on this one? No MAC suggestions please, I prefer to stick with PC.
Thanks,

Firewire chipset are Ricoh for the 400 and Texas Instrument for the 800 which is ok,anyway for that price and the quality of these machines you may go ahead with closed eyes

Definitely spend another $149- and get the 2.66 mhz processor. Looks really nice. Another option is to check out the asus c90s, they allow you to use desktop cpu's etc aswell. Probably a fair bit cheaper.
Live 7.0.7.

Hi-
I have a Livetracker Mk.II (one model down from this one), and it's great- no crashes, quick, runs Live very well, 7200 rpm hard drive, doesn't run too hot...
But holy hell do I ever wish I would have waited a few more months and gotten the 'Extreme' you're thinking about, considering that it has a faster processor, more RAM, faster front side bus, eSATA, better video card, HDMI... all for 100 bucks more than I paid for my mk.II.
F*ck!
Anyway, I can recommend it. Any specific questions, let me know, and I apologize for the above rant.

If I may inquire....Summer2000 wrote:Hi,
I just contacted their sales support dept to see if they could give me a discount on the price. They are willing to take $200 off.
Now that's a deal.
It looks like I'll be getting one.

Did you get one yet - and if so, how do you like it?
Also, what was the price they quoted you at, and how did you go about asking for a discount?

I decided to hold off on it so I can get a Macbook Pro instead. I'm waiting to see if Apple releases an updated version at Macworld on Jan 15 before making my move.
I like the idea of getting a Mac instead because I get the best of both worlds -Mac OS and PC (thru bootcamp and virtual).

You have been assimilated!
For what it's worth...I just got the top of the line MBP 15in (2.6 GHz/7200rpm HD) and it does really well with Live 7. I've really been blown away with the speed and how it is handling all of my projects. I'm running it under Leopard.
