Low Vocal Recording

Post by about2flip » Fri Sep 07, 2007 10:15 pm

Hi:

I am using AL 5, and I am doing vocal recording using a Audio-Technica AT2020 mic going through M-Audio Firewire Solo. When I record vocals they seem real low.

Is there any advice someone can give me to getting the best vocal sound? What effects to add, etc...

I appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.
:D

does the firewire solo have a built in amplifier? if it does it should have an adjustable trim (for mic volume) and perhaps a +4db switch... as well as perhaps phantom power. Otherwise you'll need to look into using the utility plugin/compressor to try and even out the vocals.

Low in Volume. The mic is phantom power.
do you add any effects while recording vocals.

for now i have been recording vocals, and then amplifying in audacity.

Thanks for the help.

Could be so many things. I'm assuming you have the gain setting on the Maudio device set high enough and that it supplies 48v PPower? And that the mic isn't broken? And that you have your levles set ok in Live?
BTW Forget FX for now...just get your signal up.

And how low are you talking? Barely audible?
