reddd apple!
Am I to understand Lenovo went from last to first in six months? Sounds like their donation check cleared. Making a donation to a green organization makes your product greener by intent, of course.

Ya I really don't know either way. But I've been a greenpeace donor for years, and I do like to see apple being kept on its toes (I'm nowhere near an apple fanboy). However lately I have read of some issues with greepeace's means of investigating some matters such as this. And I remember this particular case having some serious flaws, and some conclusions being made that didn't tie into the findings very well.Machinate wrote:hehe, RJ, it would appear that reading that something is BS does not make it so
Maybe they're right, I dunno, but GP are far from perfect despite all the good they do.

as former GP worker, I can say this about the Apple campaign:
the rating system was based more on documentation than Apple's company action. With that being said, Apple has been known to charge a fee if you were to take products to them to be recycled, and as a symbolic Market leader, GP essentially uses their name as a tool for attention to the industry problems. Obviously, Macintoshes are produced in much smaller numbers than pc countreparts internationally, hence the stats are a bit of an illusion.
GP is not evil, though, and as an orginaztion it has done some cool things to challenge the big boys with all the money..

what if your iPod breaks or your computer breaks and you don't want to pay 600 dollars to fix it? should I just keep it in my closet until I die, or just dump it in a lake?
for items such as computers which are harder to recycle parts than a tin can or a piece of paper, environmental groups are applying more pressure that corporations include systems and policies to become more responsible for the better of the environment. They dont have to I suppose, but do you really think it is such a ridiculous request? I dont think its so ridiculous to expect any corporation that makes ridicuolous amounts of profit to sacrifice a portion into safer sounder environmental policiy and practice...(this is not really about Apple at all but about the concept of corporate responsibility)
