Cylob Music System
I found this rather interesting guide on Cylob's blog Cyloblog. Just thought I'd share...

No problem - I particularly like the vocal sequencer.

I wonder if thats what he used on 'cut the midrange, drop the bass' ...and 'sex machine' ..and others....The vocal synthesis used is a simple 3 filter setup, one low pass and two band pass. A waveform or noise is passed through the filter bank, depending on whether the phoneme is voiced or unvoiced. The filter values for each phoneme were based on analysis of spectrograms of my own voice. 18 different voice types are available, and a "shift" multiplier value can be applied to the set of formants. Every word is rendered as a set of envelopes for all of the parameters. Each individual phoneme sound is selected for every word or phrase, together with its pitch, amplitude and duration values. These words or phrases can be saved and recalled individually, to allow a "dictionary" to be built up.
if so, thats some impressive patching...

Yes very impressive. I think it's pretty much a cert that's what he used for 'cut the midrange...' - ah, what a great tune. No wonder he doesn't seem to bring out much new stuff he spends all his time coding by the looks of things. And DJing. Quite a lot.

it's also very possible that he just used vocal writer to do cut the midrange. it's been out for ages and sounds exactly like the effects he gets.
