Lucifer Dev Departs
Lucifer Dev Departs

Don't know all the background, but it's obvious from reading a bit of it that warez/cracks have played a part in this decision.
Looks like Lucifer will live on, hopefully.

Re: Lucifer Dev Departs
I really despise people who steal music software. I just got into an argument about this on another board. Stealing music software from people like that impedes progress.polyslax wrote:http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=173183

Oh! Uhm, I totally missed out on this Devine Machine betrayal-thing - what happened? Is there a thread somewhere that explains it?
"not anything worth discussing (shoddy hack/torrent share of OSX Lucifer). But I had to give a certain finger on my way out the door to those DiMWITS who helped show me the door. "
it almost looks like devine machine was responsible for the leak.

steves an awesome dev, hes helped me out via email beyond his obligations.
however at the same time i think he must be kidding himself about the real state of music software piracy in the real world.
he will have the same shit to deal with wherever he dev's.
I don´t think Steve´s refering to betrayal INSIDE Devine-Machine.
After reading the whole thread, I get the feeling he might be refering to ONE customer whom he knows leaked or cracked the software under this ArCADE moniker, because there´s a post (too lazy to look for it now) where he mentiosn how he wants to put version 2.2 of Lucifer out to reward his customers, except one who doesn´t deserve.
I don´t think it´s too hard for Steve to know about this, because even from version one, he always made individual builds for each customer or, later in version 2, a specific config file for each one.

The plot thickens:

And then the bomb drops:
I think this is the right time to announce that a software will replace Lucifer on devine machine, free to Lucifer registered users.
Of course it will not be a copy, but a new machine based on my last years of work.

very frustrating, you cant buy it, you cant trade it, you cant get it if you havent got it, but it still exists. talk about a sellers marketbitcrusher wrote:Lucifer is immortal Evil or Very Mad just not for sale.couet14 wrote: will there be an official v2.1.1 of lucifer before its end ?
I'm "working" on 2.2 in my free time.. (slower dev pace) but it will be sent to registered users over time.

seems like a bad move that they aren't offering to selll the older version at all, they are going to force a certain percentage of people to get a cracked version simply because they are no longer allowed to buy it. some people are actually coming to learn of this plugin for the first time because of this ordeal as people are talking about it on other message boards and what not, publicity for something that is not for sale.
I don't think it's a smart move at all to be honost. he's upset cause people were downloading his program for free, but nothing makes people want something more than saying "you can't have this"
