Live Mac Sripts

I'm just entering the world of scripts. Not got much of a clue so far (but I haven't really read too much about it yet cos I'm quite lazy). I've seen a few movies where peole can start recording a clip and then loop that clip after finishing recording by pressing one pad or button (see Kid Beyond). Looks very easy but I can't seem to be able to do this with Live 'out the box'. Any suggestions???

is he not using a pedal?

Yeah he's using a pedal but how does one tap on one pedal start, stop and then loop a new clip?

if you watch the video's, he's using bome midi translator to convert multiple keystrokes to one pedal
