WTF?? NI usual crap, cant upgrade from K2-4 after march!!!

Starting from March 1st, 2007, the KOMPLETE 4 Update for KOMPLETE 2 users will no longer be available!

I just cant afford it, nor will I by then, but that is outrageous

You can still upgrade Live from v1

How can a company make products that sound so good also manage to have such amazingly bad business savvy and customer support?? they are constantly looking like shit in this regard

yeah, that has kept me from buying any of there software, even though I am very curious about battery and reaktor. plus, the way they have (or haven't) handled the UB thing is a no-so-good sign of their business.

and this bs upgrade deadline will hurt them

OK, I'm sure I'll get flack for this, but what's the big deal? Komplete 4 was going for $599 at Guitar Center here in the states just a couple weeks ago. You could buy that and sell Komplete 2 to somebody for probably the difference; at least $200 anyway.

No upgrade path to Logic 7 from 4, and SX charges about $400 for the same sort of jump. Digital Performer, Fruity Loops, and Live are the best this way, but NI certainly aren't the worst with this?

I dont know how much it is as I wasnt expecting to do it any time soon but it wont be as much as the full price

there's no reason they need to do it like that

I think you're right to a degree, but here in the states, NI phone support is great. I bought Kore on ebay. ( Impulse buy, was too cheap, couldn't resist! ) Generally they ask for the seller to fill out a form and fax it to them for license transfers, but the lady on the phone was happy I had his name, phone number, and city he lived in, and she deleted his account.
One of the feet fell off right away. Some bad glue etc. They got my registration information, called me back and are sending me new feet. They called again to make sure they got my address right, serious. This is for little rubber feet.
Kore works fine, at 1.0 even, that everybody was complaining about. It takes about %7 CPU.

I think marketing rushes the programmers into releasing betas sometimes, and NI have had a bitch of a time with UB, but honestly, they get far too much flack IMO.

Forge, start a petition on their forum to get rid of the deadline! Seriously, that worked for me with the whole Kore=Dongle thing. It was removed after the first update, and I'm sure the 13+ page thread that we kept bumping up every day on their forum had something to do with it.
If that doesn't work email or call them and ask for a personal extension. You would be surprised at how often you can get one if you simply explain your financial situation etc.

it's just really pissed me off because I have been wanting to do it at some point but cant justify it, but now it will be even harder

I've just enrolled at Uni so now I'll have at least another 3 years of poverty!

I shouldnt have to piss around selling K2 etc

Dude, you're being a Chicken Little if you aren't really that interested, and are STILL complaining. If you are, then do like I said beeyoch! and start a petition! but coming to the Ableton forum to bash NI when you don't even care enough to know what you are bashing them for??? You just know most people here are anti NI and are looking for a group stroke.
