Hi,
I did it three weeks ago.
The only thing I complain about is the arrogance of the so called experts at the store...
A part from that I'm very happy. Hype is Hype, but I'd do it again.
Welcome to OS X land!
PS : for those who believe I was abducted by aliens using Mac OS X, I'm still using XP and Linux on my other machine, so I get the best from three platforms, why bother? When the world offers possibilities why don't simply take advantage?

my decision was mostly based on the I/O options of the equivelant PC.
The ASUS I picked up has a DVI, VGA, S-Video output along with Firewire, USB and PCI Express.
The graphics card rips shit on anything comparable in the apple range (better than macbook pro in this department) and the 15.4 " screen with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 will allow me to see more tracks and scenes.
Can't wait to run L6 on this baby!!

What are the specs of your machine? Chip? Ram? Drives? And what sound card do you use? And of course, once you have it all set up, what are the results of the Performance Test?
Intel Core Duo T7200 2.0GHz Processor
Mobile Intel 945PM Express Chipset
NVIDIA GeForce GO7600 256Mb
1GB DDR2 667MHz Memory
120GB SATA 5400rpm Hard Drive
DVD±Rewriter Double Layer
15.4" WSXGA+ Colourshine (1680x1050)
DVI, VGA, S-Video Output
1.3 Mega Pixel Camera
+ free upgrade to Vista Business edition when it's released to joe public.
the sound card thing is now an issue. im hoping to use some kind of adaptor to allow me to use my Echo Indigo DJ.I just sold my MBOX before my Acer died (damn!)
for playing out live, the indigo will do fine and for the studio, i have desktop machines with Echo Layla 24 & 3G (PCI) which I can plug stuff into and route to the SPDIF in of the ASUS notebook.

having just bought a 7200RPM 100gig drive for my now fucked ACER ... i am going to stick that in the machine if i need the juice.rasputin wrote:Did you post the price of that badboy and I missed it? Or do you get some kind of insider deal? Sounds righteous, although a 7200 rpm drive would add some sweetness.
They seem to be priced at USD: $1299 or so and here it cost me $2200 AUD.
