acceptable noise level from a fan

i am thinking about building a rack mount computer and was wondering what were some good levels to shoot for on the fans and also how much the can plays with the noise level that a computer. if you are know about this type of thing please reply, help would be appreciated, and yes i did look in the manual.tia

You're going to have fan noise if you're trying to track in the same room as your computer. Best you can do is dust it out frequently and keep your processor intensive tasks down while recording.

Could use a 1RU convection cooled setup.... Not sure how well these go,
was a bunch of 1RU servers around a year or 2 ago that used convection
currents to bring fresh cool air in while expelling the heated air.

Also an oil cooled system with the fridge unit made external could be
silent. Tho heavy.

The big fans in 4RU cases can be quite noisy, depends on how well
balanced they are.

You could also put the computers in a separate room and use KVR
equipment to remotely plug into them.

Or if you have an extra room to spare, instead of using it as a tracking booth, run some pipes from there to your rack and install a liquid cooling system. This is a moot point.
