Any decent USB external soundcards?

Post by DanClarke » Wed Oct 26, 2005 11:28 am

As topic sas,

are there any decent cards about, im looking for something similar to the audiophile in terms of features but with USB connectivity. If anyone knows any that'd be great.

I use a Audiotrak Maya 44 USB. 4 in 4 out. It's functional and I get pretty low latency with it and it's reliable. This is with macosx btw. I think with XP it might not be as good.

I'm waiting until someone releases a firewire interface that's compact and worth using. Focusrite Saffire might be that device yet. :)

True.

How about the Terratec Phase 24 USB device?

I use an m-audio Quattro USB. 4 in/4out. Apparently they've been discontinued but I am sure you can still find one somewhere. I've had it for about three years now and with the exception of 1 bad driver issue about a year and a half ago I been pretty hapy with it. It's served me well. Google around, check E Bay and such.

M-audio Duo. Works great w/ G4 and G5. Sounds good, no issues at all.

I have been using the Audiotrak Maya 5.1 USB - 6 outs & 2 ins for 3 years on XP, never had a problem. :D

Think it has been replaced/updated by the Maya EX5 - 6 outs & 2 ins

They also do the Maya EX7 - 8 outs

i can say the same thing about m-audio. mine didn't work, and had to sell it. but i'm staying m-audio's biggest fan:)

for ME, the emagic worked great...
