New Ableton user here, I managed to recall different instruments with the chain function and dummy clips however I am looking for a way to recall presets within a VST without loading it as an additional instrument - Is there a way to do that?
Example:
Instrument rack:
Massive VST
Ableton's Drift Synth
Kontakt Player VST
Clip 1 in session view would load preset X on Massive
Clip 2 would load preset Y on Massive
Clip 3 would load Kontakt preset X
Clip 4 would load Kontakt preset Y
Clip 5 Drift preset X
Clip 6 Drift preset Y
I managed to do that but only when loading additional Massive, Kontakt and Drift to the instrument rack, I figured If I have a long set of 50 scenes, each with a different sound it would be beneficial to load an instrument once and recall the presets rather than load the same VST 10-20 times to the instrument rack.
Is there any way to do that? thank you!!

Re: Seeking help with recalling presets on instruments rack
Try PGM change within the clip. Therefore the VST should be able to receive midi PGM. In Kontakt use "Instrument Bank", but I think the VST 3 version cannot receive PGM change, when I tried it lately. VST 2 works with PGM change.

Not 100% sure, but I think there is a problem with PGM and AU, not with VST.

Re: Seeking help with recalling presets on instruments rack
VST3 and PGM is still not working (Live 11.2.11, Komplete 14, Windows 10).
There is already a thread about that:

As far as I know, it is not adressed in Live 11.3.

Re: Seeking help with recalling presets on instruments rack
Hello
I made longtime ago a device for my personal use that :
__grabs all the parameters of a VST (even if they are more than 128)
__stores presets and recalls them
__allows to morph between VST presets (with dummy clips or mappable fader)
__randoms all the values with possibility to exclude some parameters
__morphs between VST presets
etc...
You will find it here
https://maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=9958
I don't plan to update it, but maybe it will help you.
the numbox can be automated in a dummy clip to change the preset.
Note that this numbox accepts "float" numbers.
that means that putting "1.5" will recall a sound where all the parameters of the VST will be between the values of the preset "1" and the preset "2"
That means too that if in a clip you draw an envelop of this numbox from "1" to "2" that the sound will morph from these presets with the curve..
hope it helps
It may work on Live 12, but still not invited to beta test it...
tested on 10 and 11 with big VST like DIVA without major issue..
Cheers
