Behringer FCB1010 - Does it hum when powered on?

Post by nebulae » Fri Jan 12, 2007 7:33 am

Just bought a Behringer FCB1010 from eBay. When I turn it on, it hums, and if I press on the middle peddle, the humming stops. Starts up again when I lift up my foot. Is this normal behavior for this unit?

Not that I've noticed but I'm AU with a different power voltage/power supply.

So I gather that in some cases it does hum a little and in others it doesn't. Interesting.

DK, can you confirm that if you press on the pedals at various angles that the humming changes and even goes away at times? Is yours pretty loud? As in you can don't need to get up close to hear it?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Mine started humming quite loudly the other day (had it for about 6 months and it was silent up til then) and now it's stopped again. When it was making a noise, it would stop if you pushed down on some of the pedals or on the casing. When it first started humming, it also reset the stored patches

In a similar vein, my BCR developed a twitch where the encoders would suddenly jump, even if it wasn't connected to my PC. Again, this suddenly sorted itself out and it's been fine for months

You gotta love midi controllers :D

yes, it hums until i press on the board...
not necessarily in one particular spot.
i may pop it open and make sure any rivets etc. are tight.
it can be loud enough to notice for sure, but it is not consistent.....i notice it now and then.
doesn't seem to affect performance at all.
on another note-does anyone remember how to calibrate the foot pedals?
thanks

I remember getting a text file from the yahoo groups 1010 group with instructions about recalibrating the exp epdals (which worked perfectly). I just looked there, and holy crap, there is so much more information there than before! Couldn't spend the time to sift through it all to find the recalibration doc, but surely it is there...

Hopefully this helps, I'm not sure why some kinds of people love chiming in that they have no problem.

Apparently on the FCB1010, the pedal board can develop a hum.
This seems due to the transformer, and seems to have a fix or has been solved.

It seems if you put something between the transformer and the casing like a plectrum or anything, it can fix the problem.
I used a doubled over piece of paper and it worked.

Here's a picture of where the transformer is inside: http://el34world.com/Misc/Music/images/IMG_0230.jpg

I awake from my cryopreservation chamber.
The Earth seems similar in so many ways yet so different.
What year is this? 2017. Remarkable. Ten Years in cryosleep.
Time to catch up on a few forum posts I missed.
Give 'em a little bump, as we used to say back in 2007. Way way back in 2007.

How does this even happen?

Odd.
Helpful. Nice. But odd.
