Unstability

Post by raapie » Tue Jan 28, 2014 8:27 am

I love Live 9 and it's features. But it's a very unstable release. I have had several crashes the last couple of days and have send the bug reports to Ableton. They didn't respond to me. That feels bad. Communication is key when stuff are not working like they should.

I'm planning to do live concerts with Ableton but I guess Live 8 is more stable that 9. Or is it Mavericks? I'm using a late 2013 build rMBP which is performing very fast. But those crashes... ! Just a matter of BANG! and Ableton is gone.

Ableton doesn't respond to crash reports. If you want one on one communication with them you need to contact customer support.

Odd - Im using L9.1 32 bit mostly on a Feb 2011 MBP (not 9.1.1 yet though) and TBH it seems to be about the most stable version of Live that I can ever remember on any platform (on OSX Mountain lion at least - not upgraded to mavericks yet). I have M4L installed as well, but not using it that much at the moment but am using a lot of decent (ie apparently reliable) 3rd party plugins.

Maybe you have some plugin its doesn't like, or audio interface or some other audio/midi device driver - what do the crash dumps indicate - there is usually some hint of the offending library whose code was executing when it died?
Nothing to see here - move along!

I'm using 64 bit version. And yes, G-force M-tron Pro caused a crash. And Ohm Force Symptohm:Melohman caused a crash.

I love both plugins though. G-force M-tron Pro I'm using much.

But I guess when Live Looping I must try something else.

Live 9 is also very unstable for me, but it seems to be primarily linked to Max for Live for me.

Live, M4L, & all Max Packs updated to the latest versions.

But I'm also on an older MacBook Pro & Snow Leopard. Thinking pretty seriously about Mavericks as a possible or at least partial solution to these problems.

I'm on Mavericks using a brand new late 2013 MacBook Pro. Like this laptop very much. Live also, but instability is not good.
