so it's hearsay, not fact.
as for M4L integration with live: surely maxforlive is max and i understand that it's a really robust system and all that but who do you really think their customers are? people who are using max? not really, cause they already have max. people who wants to play around with other people's devices and build new control templates and whatnots? mm, could be.
nobody has claimed that bitwig studio's modular system is on par with max for live, not is anyone expecting this either. it's a modular system similar to that of plogue bidule, for example. it most likely can't do what max for live can do in terms of operating and interfacing with the API but here's the kicker: nobody said that it could.
it is, however, a modular instrument buider and editor.
can you edit tension in live?
nope.
but if this modular system holds true to it's promise, you can edit the instruments in bitwig studio.
there's the difference.
oh, and again: max for live is a separate product. not an included product. this modular system ships with bitwig studio as is, and that alone surely will appeal to a lot of people, me included.

A couple of more things.
1. On the bitwig homepage it says that the modular system is going to arrive after the 1.0 release.
2. Aside from a few neat bells and whistles.. dual monitor support. really nice midi, the ability to open multiple documents, clip automation and scenes in both arranger and mix view... I'm having trouble seeing serious features.

Yeah the extreme similarity to Live's design coupled with the lack of any "day 1" features that really differentiate it in any major way is kind of off putting to me.
The modular environment is the only thing that piques my interest.

even if it's identical to Live people will like the flow and feel of one or the other.
once they drop their loads it'll be odd to not have this tension on the forum.

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...
well besides slightly nicer midi and 64 bits (and probably working pdc lol) i don't see a huge difference and i certainly hope they can code better then they can write music ! lol! (going from the new video)
i will stay loyal to the good folk at ableton as i believe they have something up their sleeve and tbh they have always treated me with great respect as a customer.
PLUS, i have seen gui plagiarism before, but this is new. Change the colour scheme and you need to clear out your eyes with saline to realise you are not looking at live. I mean, come on, that's *REALLY* close and what i call pushing the envelope of cheek.
I have to be honest, in my heart, i know they are a new company and i should wish them well, and i DO, as long as it does not affect ableton too much... but i really hope ableton kick them in the cojones with a spectacular live 9, especially for the sheer cheek on such a gui rip off. Even the exact same and i mean exact same look on the channels in the clip view. Even the square buttons. Exact. Timestretch markers.. Exact.. etc etc and then, etc.
