What will I need to learn to start producing like this?
What will I need to learn to start producing like this?
Hello everyone. I recently stumbled upon an artist that inspired me enough to take up production seriously. I've been a huge fan of artist like this for a while. Think Mount Kimbie, Jamie XX, James Blake, etc....This kid obviously draws huge inspiration from the artist I just mentioned, but hearing him was the nail in the coffin for me. Here are some of his tunes:

Things that pop out at me as far as learning are, drum programming, sampling techniques, and a couple of tricks (like wobble bass, "trap snares drops", etc....
My brother is also a really good sample based producer/artist. Who started off at the dubspot in NYC and has come a very long way since then lol.......kicking myself for not started back then now. Here's one of his productions just in case you guys are wondering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADUSMzf8hik

lol no kidding, but no not everything. You could definitely break the 3 categories, I listed into sub sections, with sub sections tho lol....like using sine waves for that bass sound that's popular in this style, etc....but I more so mean the core fundamentals. Was that suppose to be a scary statement lol? I'm around some pretty competent producers, and not a complete noobie so I'm definitely going to put in the time.simmerdown wrote:...everything

Sorry to piss on anyone's bonfire, but you can't always be anything you want to be. Music is not some will-to-power self determination thing I'm afraid. There is a little 'X Factor' called talent.yeaokwali wrote:Lol Ok Ok I get it I can be anything I want to be lol........hopefully I can post up some of my progress here soon.Serra wrote:no magic answer, lots of hard work and practice and you will find YOUR sound and nobody will be as good with you because you are the only you in this world, just like these artist you've mentioned

Most people cannot just bench press their way to talent. It doesn't work like that.
Just keep that in mind, too.

Haha, zing!
Go for it man, give it your all and remember to have fun along the way. Most people here never seem to share their own music, so take that with a grain of salt too.
Oh, and this:
