Brosteppers...

Post by bbart318 » Wed Aug 24, 2011 8:07 pm

Seriously... These kids ruin my experience at almost every concert. I can't even enjoy the artist because some douchebags start moshing, shoving, start fights all due to ignorance and heavy drug/ alcohol use. Anyone else experience this nonsense? or is it just me..

I mean c'mon..seriously

I'm 20 and I don't act like that. It just really irritates me that some people have no self control or respect to their surroundings

Edit. By concerts, I mean raves/edm artists

I was having this conversation not too long ago with my brothers.
Moshing in itself isn't a big deal to me but when guys use it as an excuse to elbow and punch people in the face then I have a problem.
In fact I have been involved in some crazy melees because of that. Not at edm shows but at metal shows.

It just comes down to respect. Everyone is there to have fun and I don't care what you do unless it is malicious.

I got smacked hard in the face dancing in the pit at a Jesus & Mary Chain gig at one of their early shows about 100 years ago.

Gave me a full-on nosebleed, ended up covered in blood. Thing is, it looked pretty cool over my t-shirt so I didn't mind. Those were the days.

See, original punks had the same problem with skinheads:

Skins were only too happy to show punks how it should be done.

They thought that we'd be impressed with the full on punches and kicks they threw on the dancefloor.

Morons.

Punk moshing always looked violent but you'd soon be picked up if you fell over. Anyone abusing the trust you need for controlled violence of a punk pogo was not tolerated, frowned upon. not cricket if you like.

Had a propa good mosh at a Crass (Steve Ignorant) gig earlier this year. Lasted about an hour which aint bad for a 43 year old.

One big twat was doing the usual macho shite: trying to floor smaller people when their backs were turned, just being too heavy...using the mosh as an excuse to hurt someone for fun.

He was apparently not quite as hench as 500-1000 anarcho-punks at a Crass gig. You can't get more PC or right-on than the hard sounding Crass ironically. The crowd didn't even wolf whistle the fit honey singing the Penis Envy album and she was on well fire I can tell you...!!

Mosh with respect. :)

(IDM and moshing though? I think your on the wrong drugs??)

It’s a physical celebration by white males who can’t dance and love war.

Must be the wrong drugs and alcohol.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Crass the band are no more. Steve Ignorant wanted to reform for a gig a couple of yrs back but the rest of the band, mainly Penny Rimbaud tbh.. decided that a reform etc... was not in the Crass ethos.
After some consideration after an interview Penny mellowed some and Steve got a band together to play the feeding of the Five Thousand Album in Shepherds Bush.
Crass were the originators of black flag anarcho-punks writing about peace, social issues, sexism, racism etc... so the gig was Legendary sparking a wave of repeat gigs still going on now. The band were in fact more of an art installation when you look back at it all as they incorporated visuals and audio collages with their gigs. Thinking mans punks if you will.

touring USA this year,
