APC 40 and Launcpad conflicting

I'm using both as "control surfaces" and "remote" so as to assign specific funtions to the knobs on the send and pan knobs on the apc40 , problem is - channel 5 on the apc40 doesn't work and is conflicting with the launchapd assignments. I really like this setup and please don't tell me this basic functionality is somehow not possible.

ya it is due to the custom mappings... due to the fact that they couldn't get their shit together and make the LP and APC40 send different midi message - some are shared which makes using them both at the same time USELESS unless you aren't going to custom map - and even in that case I remember running into problems..

Good luck - the only solution i remember was using a MIDI translator - yeah.. so.. i'm gonna take my two ABLETON controllers and use a 3rd party application to TRICK it into working together.. what a pain in the ass

seems like a weird strategy having to use a hack to use them together in harmony , these are after all both branded by ableton and designed to work with it , even if they are manufactured by two different companies.

Thats what Im saying.. ableton worked with both companies - launchpad came out AFTER the APC - so why in the world would the screw this up that bad?
