Everyone's tired of hearing about problems with an M-Audio firewire device, but here goes:

Card has its own IRQ, Windows XP Pro, 2.6ghz, 512mb, buffer is set as high as it can go, no other apps or hardware running, tried ASIO4all, tried most recent M-Audio drivers, done a lot of tweaking in Windows to optimize it for audio, BUT:

I'm having pops and crackles during playback in Live and in Cubase.

I'm just about to rebox it and send it back. Does anyone have any really great miracle cure that I've overlooked before I do? It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to get the thing to work.

I bought a MBOX

Post by djadonis206 » Thu May 05, 2005 8:50 pm

I had a firewire 410 for a week and took it back and traded it for a MBOX

I really like the MBOX ALOT!!!

the firewire 410 was chill but the blue light never went out and it never got loud enough for me (even after adjusting the preferences)

but anyways

I think the MBOX is friggin awesome. I also have a Layla24, but I move around a lot so it's easy to just pop the MBOX into my bag and go wherever.

The AD converters on the MBOX are wicked for the kind of unit that it is.
