Writing an application for Launchpad/Ableton...

Post by joaoboston » Wed Jun 23, 2010 12:45 pm

Hi,
I just need a quick answer to this: like the original session view mode, where clips are mapped to launchpad just as they are on the screen, can an external application (written in java) do the same?
Can I track the position of the clips/track channels added or deleted, etc through midi messages?
Or is this all exclusive to the embedded software?
I was hoping someone from Ableton itself would kindly answer this

Thanks

I am not a specialist, but surface control scripts are written in python. It has been done for the monome, so why not ?
I am interested in what you wanna do, BTW.

Can you link me to some of those scripts?
If it's possible to write in python, i'm guessing there won't be any trouble using java...
thanks :)

oh forget my last post, you're talking about LiveAPI right?
Is it reliable? The official site seems to be down...
