custom controller for dl (diy enthusiasts)

Post by handojin » Thu May 06, 2010 4:02 am

hey yalll... thought id share what i was working on,,hey its no lemur but it can cost next to nothing and be custimized to your liking
if your into touchscreens and custom controllers for ableton ect,,
built in usine, talks to ableton through combination of liveosc, mackie control and custom script,,
basically has a 8 channel mixer with 2x8 clip control,, reads colors and playback status, vu's on every channel with lots of other neat features,, some bugs to work out with the clip name readout and playback status when scrolling but working for me for now,,

have fun...

instructions---
(designed for 1024x768 screen, fyi mines a 8" car touchscreen bought for $100 of ebay,, im sure a wii mote whiteboard would be great too)
download usine free here
http://www.sensomusic.com

osc file goes in ableton midi remote scripts folder
custom ableton script in user remote scripts folder

in ableton midi prefs
select liveosc, no midi input or output

select usine script, from midi yoke, (will need to setup in usine too)
select mackie control, from midi yoke (same goes,, setup in usine,, i use midi yoke 1)

didnt bother with 2 way communication for the mackie and script,, but feel free to try if you want...

enjoy,, if anybody takes this mods it improves it or such please let me know,, maybe ill want to try out yours!
