Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
Re: Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
8core 2.8 Ghz Macpro, 8Gb ram, OS X 10.5.8,
Macbook Pro 2.5 Ghz Coreduo2
Tried with: Fireface 800 / no audio interface / Mbox2 mini
Live suite 8.1.3rc (with and without M4L)
A lot of crashes...
From the crash reports it seems to be Native Komplete 6 (kontakt, massive and reaktor the most) and most of my ilok plugs, Waves SSL 4000 + JJ colection, Vengeance producer BD Synth+Sidechaner, (a few times with Altiverb 6) but not sonnox inflater+limiter and I think Soundtoys are doing ok as well.
I can have long solid sessions if I don´t use any of these plugs, but that´s kind of a "no
go" for me. I did not have this magnitude of problems with Live 7 as I remember it, but I sure dont´t have them in Logic 9.
I have made a big yellow sticker on the top of my screen to remind me of saving all the time. I was kind of hoping to take it off with 8.1.3, but guess it stays on for a while.
All that said Live is still my favorite tool, and I will stick with it and take some more beating.
Cheers

Bugger. Well, you can strike me from this exclusive list; been having three crashes today - all ending in a static, glitchy
hum (the sum of all the audio playing at the moment of the crash) and some runtime error voodoo. When I try to restart Live,
I get a "serious error" if I try to recover the project, but then again, I have to reboot entirely in order to restart
audio anyway (which is disabled when Live crashes or when I re-launch).
Crossing my fingers that the new version will be the stuff.

Re: Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
I removed all T-Racks singles from my project right after posting, and (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems since.
I should know better - IK plugs are still on the VST problem list.
(I'm not saying definitely that they were the cause, though.)

Live 8, all versions. On Vista, Windows 7, 32bit versions only.
Workstation was quadcore, 4gb ram. now is core i5, 4gb ram.
laptop is 2730p tablet convertible from hp, core2duo, 2 - 3gb ram (unsure).
both have intel ssds (workstation 80gb gen2, laptop 160gb gen1).
software side i use live, a launchpad, a lemur with some midi-looper (midiox or something?).
soundcards are audio kontrol 1 or audio 8 dj (for both audio and midi).
i use some faderfoxies, connected on the NI soundcards.

Re: Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
See my sig for the hardware. Live 8.09, mainly NI Absynth 4 and Kontakt 3, Stylus RMX, synplant, 3rd party audio FX, operator, native FX, audio tracks, sometimes real time FX on incoming audio. Some plug ins intensive sessions with 15-20 midi and audio tracks (sometimes more) with effects to 14 outputs of my original motu 828 (8 adat and 6 analog). Tried with motu 828, X station, internal soundcard depending on my needs for multiple outputs... Very, very rare crashes during live performances, tudio work, workshops,...
And yes, my OSX version is still 10.5.4, when it works, I don't see the point of updating until I'm obliged to do so.

Re: Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
I have T7200 based HP notebook running Vista SP1 32 bit with 2GB of RAM. I have a MOTU Ultralite 'classic' (not the mk3) and also use a TC Konnekt 8 with no problems. I use the ASIO4ALL drivers when I use my internal soundcard. I have several different controllers, interfacing via USB and MIDI. I use some intercessory programs to change USB HID to MIDI also.
I had some problems early on, here is a video illustrating the problems.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MU2k0Rh_rI
The video description texts includes the information received from Ableton support that fixed the problem, the fix is specific to Windows. Since applying this fix I *have had no further issues*.
I like to create sets on the fly, start with a simple MIDI phrase used as a drum pattern and then route that MIDI to other tracks to run other things and 'build it out' using chord plugs, arps and other midi effects to multiply and vary the notes, and also recording using resampling. This involves dragging/dropping effects (both third party and Live native) and clips and adding tracks, midi audio and return, on the fly.
The 'crackles' I was experiencing at first interfered with that and I was sorely bummed, but once the fix was in place everything is great.
What I'd say is that the more accurately and completely you can describe your issue to support, the more likely you can get a fix. This doesn't mean using a lot of words, it means capturing the essential details and providing example sets/bug reports and conversing back and forth with them.

Re: Live8 is working well for you? no crashes? post your setup!
little to no probs here,,
asus b80a laptop
ff400
running usine in background driving osc touchscreen controller built in usine
novation sl mkii,
works fine for me with little to no probs on xp and also win7 64, at my work we use a mac pro not sure which version but not snow leopard and it seems to work fine too,, no plugins installed so hard to judge
on my home setups only problem i have is some plugs i used to use dont like v8,, so i wrap them up in usine and no probs,
(i use the steinberg vocoder thats not supposed to work on other hosts,, other than an error messsage at boot it worked fine in v7 or earlier,, 8 stopped working,, so hence using usine as a host for this one plugin,,
as with all versions of ableton i often got hangs when scanning plugins,, but thats normal, just need to run it a couple times to scan all vsts, other than that ive used it live 10-20 times now with no probs glitches or weirdness that others are describing
