Fifth Beta of upcoming bugfix update: Live 8.1.2b5!
Re: Fifth Beta of upcoming bugfix update: Live 8.1.2b5!
Yep. This one's really unstable. Can't work even for 2 minutes. I can't really locate the problem either. The crash seems to come regularly, regardless of what I do.
Biomechanical Pop by Unzyme. We use Live on stage and in the studio.

Actually, you probably can. Starting with 8.1, Live sets are XML files that have been compressed with gzip. What you need to do is:djsynchro wrote:Live 8.1.2b4 and Live 8.1.2b5 are the buggiest version of 8 I've had that includes the pre-release beta! Won't open a set I made (and can't open with 8.1.1 next because it's made with a newer version)
1) If you do not already have a program to process gzip files, visit www.gzip.org and download one.
2) Make a copy of your .als file and rename it to end with .gz
3) Use your gzip software to decompress it.
4) Use a text editor to change the version number (which is stored in an obvious place near the beginning of the file.)
5) Compress it again and change the name back to .als
This should work as long as you don't actually make use of any features in 8.1.2 that are not present in 8.1.

QUESTION for Alex.
Should we be deleting the older beta stuff and wiping out particular preference files to get the best results?
If so any "specific" information on getting the best results would be greatly appreciated.
