live pt re-wire
live pt re-wire
I can't get live to re wire into pro tools. ..
?
Has any one had this problem.?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, is it just me.. or is pro tools VERY inefficiant?
The midi takes for ever to wright, the track sizes cant be easily stretched, ...ect.
little things.
OTHER than multi track recording, what (as far as music creation goes) is SO great about it? It just seems to take forever to do the simplest of things.
Seems like live would take pro tools over if it had multi track recording. (just for small artists, bands, junckies, and the like. I can see its use in large industry.)
Anyone agree?

Live does have multi tracking.
I rewire it into Pro tools almost everyday.
Pro Tools is more of a tracking and mixing environment, not composition.
Pro Tools is really good if you have hardware interface for it, it's more a backend for your controller, but at the same time, pro tools has some awesome features.
First is the precision and the way you deal with your material. Second is project management, when you have projects with upwards of 30 tracks or something it's great for keeping track of it all.
Also the plugins available and inter studio operability of pro tools is great.
If you wanna rewire to pro tools, just create a channel in pro tools, then add the Ableton Live instrument as an effect on that channel and choose which rewire channels you want to go into it.
Check out the manual though and I am pretty sure theres a tutorial out there for Live > PT rewire, if you have trouble just ask me and I'll give details.

You select the mix window and find your channel then in the upper half of the mix bar you should see all these gray bars. Pick one and should bring up the FX or instrument your trying to get.loren! wrote:By the way, does anyone know how to run VST's in pro tools?
hope this helps (even though it does sound a bit wierd)

I use a combo of PTLE and Abelton. So far it's working out ok. i just started using a mac for production and the learning curve is a bit trying but I have patience to learn all of it. I start by making some simple drum patterns in Live then rewire to PTLE just to hear the sounds. I then use midi to program my Juno2 or 106 or just play some basslines from the SH101 into PT. I chop it up and send it to the samples folder for later use in Live. I finish making a track and master it in PTLE. That way if I need to send it off somewhere for further touch ups I can because everyone uses PT in a studio. And that is what I use Pro Tools for.

the grey box's only seem to bring up inserts not VSTs like Crystal or mda plugins. I only get chanel plugins or i/o. I cant find any vst's there. where would i find a place to select a vst folder? ...or something like that.
Also, another problem:
When I rewire live into pt, I select live as an insert on a sterio audio track. It plays through, and I can see it on the meters even if the track is record enabled or not, but when i turn on the record in the transport and start actualy recording the tracks, NOTHING shows up in the recordings!!!
I think that it's because its an insert not a "sourse."
Thanks.
