Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
I've created an instrument rack for using my MPC2000 with a rack of Impulse modules. I've had to use Scale effects to get the notes to match with the Impulse uses (c3-c4). But the notes aren't actually getting remapped, it's just an effect so when I go to edit the notes, none of the Impulse sound names are there and it can be hard to identify which is which.
Is there a way to remap the MIDI before it comes into Live on a Mac? A solution within Live would be ideal but it doesn't seem possible.

Re: Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
I wonder if this will be possible using Max for Live?
Re: Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
Am I the only one who's ever needed to do this?

2 options on the mac I know of and use are midi pipe (free) and bomes translator.
Re: Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
Do you know how they work? I've tried MIDI pipe but I can't tell if it's possible to hi-jack only certain note events. I'll check out Bomes Translator.

Re: Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
Yes midi pipe should do it, look at the "key mapper" in midi pipe.
BTW Does your hardware not allow reconfiguring which button on sends what data?

Or use a Drum Rack instead of Impulse, then you can drag the drum samples round to the actual notes your MPC is sending.
Re: Remapping MIDI Input on a Mac
Yeah I could do that. I was thinking more for backwards compatibility with older stuff I worked on before Drum Racks existed.
