For example more flexible tempos and better sequencer features for dealing with it. Live bands vary tempo a great deal, from verse to verse, chorus etc etc. It really does make the experience more enjoyable and before you say dance music has to be constant, it's better to dance too as well when sus...

OK firstly, I love the Jerry Garcia quote, and I think the guy who started this thread was attempting humor or some such as somebody noted above. But can one instrument be more "musical" than another? Is one sound really inherently musical, and another not? Could this be? It's important, b...

Hi- I have no problems assigning the MK to use either Port A or B and having that be understood by Live- but Live sees A+B as 2+3 if I recall correctly (not 1 + 2 as you seem to think). That could be your problem. Haven't really tried using the Midi sync on the MK yet, so can't help you on that one....

I felt a bit miffed that the "fix list" didn't include LATENCY on the Mac update (only on the PC side).... That's about my only real issue with the 410... otherwise, it's great. But I've been waiting (and waiting) for M-Audio to get the latency fixed. I'm looking real hard at alternatives ...

breakbeats

Yeah that's the problem with the term breakbeat, it has distinctly different meanings. Most Djs I know use it to refer to a style of contemporary electronic music that has an uneven emphasis on the beats, as opposed to house which has the same emphasis on each beat. This is what I know as the genre,...

electronic music genres

Interesting thread. Definitely an important topic of discussion for the people actually into making and playing the sounds/music, that would be us. My 2 cents: I try and keep it simple in talking about genres- just enough to get me to the right record bin at the store: I hear hip hop, house, breaks,...

ditto on the midi how to optomize midi controllers request

I also would like to see in depth information on how Live interacts with midi devices, because there is a huge range of possibilities out there and I feel like I cannot "look under the hood" to figure out how these devices and Live are talking to each other.
