quickly about chopping up songs. I chop my songs all up into 5 different sections either with render to disk or just importing multiple copies and setting different playing sections. i separate them into: Intro, Intro Loop, Body, Exit Loop, and Exit. the intro is anything before the first loopable m...

It is possible, but I don't know how. Check out the midi config and your manual. There's also a simple 2-step hack that i thought up that will also work. 1) figure out the physical position of the fader on the controller that corresponds to the fader in live's mixer being equal to that little line t...

Help ASIO/OS X/Maya EX5 problem...
A friend and I are doing an ableton live set at a very small party tomorrow and we've run into major problems. Ok, problem one: tiger direct sent us an EX5 instead of an EX. We're going to exchange it soon because they just plain sent the wrong one. problem 2: how in the heck do you get Live 4 under...

What I would suggest trying (though i have not tried it myself) would be to set a 1-bar loop at the beginning of the track to mix with, though you might not need to do this. Then take and map the tap tempo button to either a key or a midi control and tap it in time with the record you're mixing out....

I've seen 2 people using laptops in clubs: Sasha and Paul van Dyk. Sasha had all his stuff set up before anyone was allowed in the club and ran the maven's audio interface into one of the channels on the house Xone:92. pvd plugged his FS2 box into the mixer before anyone was allowed in, along with t...

Though i haven't gotten into it too much: I typically have 3 audio tracks with an EQ4 device to use as hi/low pass filters on each one. I've been working on using render to disk to chop my songs up into loops so i don't have to do as much work to set them up. Each song is divided into an intro, intr...

No, you wouldn't make money like that. Software exists to do it: FS2, SSL, MsPinky, DJDecks, PCDJ Scratch, Mixvibes DVS, Mixvibes Pro 6, and a few others. Live really wouldn't bennifit from it because it has nothing to do with what live was supposed to do. Live is a DAW that just happens to have fea...

take a uc-33e and put a bcr-2000 above it...stick them and your audio interface together with the gaffer's tape and you've got as much funcionalty as the maven...only it's cooler because it's held together with tape...you could call it the tapeven. Speaking of which, I got to see the maven up close ...

So, I thought about importing multiple copies and setting up different loops all by myself (i'm a big boy). But, I'm wondering: will this take up substantially more RAM? I don't know how Ableton chooses to load things into RAM (other than the button). and if your answer is RTFM, i'd appreciate a sec...

Very cool advice. I started playing with it last night and those videos made it a lot easier. I can't figure out how to decide where to move the warp markers using that method, so what I was doing was to start by warping the first measure or two and then play the track with the metronome followng th...

Advice
Go buy more ram. Don't screw with virtual memory or page files, in the words of Seymore Cray, "Computer memory is like orgasms: they're better when they're real." Seriously RAM is cheap. Go buy some. Also, try defragging your hard drive and applying audio optimizations if you haven't yet.
