Re: Live's new 'Disco' skin
I'm still using the default 5.2 skin. It reminds me of the good old days....

Re: Survey? Really?
Yep, dreadful idea.
So after a while they collate the data and see they have a rating of 3.589. What happens then, send us another form this time asking why?
Each week I get nearer to Studio One...

Re: automation messed up
I uae an empty effects rack. You can automate the volume in that. It's better than the utility because it goes down to zero.

Re: Tips to reduce Midi Delay?
did they say which? Unfortunately not. For reducing jitter Live requires that the midi interface drivers provide accurate timestamps (see manual). Quite possibly. But it doesn't explain why other DAW software can manage much better on the very same hardware. However, that other software has never g...

Yep, this happens to me in 8.3.4. It opens the editor but no wave in sight. I use Wavelab Essential on WinXP SP3.

Re: Tips to reduce Midi Delay?
it's not an "some odd reason"... midi latency SHOULD be synced to audio latency (all DAWs do this) Not quite in the same way. midi is tampered with on the way into Live. The reason is because Live prioritises the audio and somehow tries the lock the incoming midi data into packets. I don'...

Re: Tips to reduce Midi Delay?
What 3dot says. Set your soundcard to have the minimum audio latency as your PC can deal with. For some odd reason Live's midi performance is tied to the soundcard's settings. And worse than that the input midi delay is not constant. It jitters all over the place. This is my number one gripe with Li...

Re: midi notes are Always late.
Live's midi input timing is very poor. I e-mailed support about this years ago and the reply said it had something to do with the way Live handles midi in relation to audio. It prioritises audio and thus midi has to wait for the audio to be dealt with first. In other words, Live's midi response is t...

Re: moog minitaur and roland SH-101 - how do they compare?
HI’m considering selling the sh-101 and replace it with the minitaur. Don't do it. Well I wouldn't now. I sold my 101 and still regret it. It's lovely synth which is almost impossible to make sound bad. The minitaur is a solid bass machine but doesn't go that high enough for those bleepy lead momen...

Re: analogue synth purchase help!
Vermona's Perfourmer mk II is well worth a look. Rather different to the Dave Smith stuff in that it has a fully analogue front panel for each of its four voices which can be used in either polyphonic and four way monophonic modes. http://www.vermona.com/tl_files/vermona/images/produkte/perfourmer2/...

Re: Live 9 Pricing
So yesterday I put the upgrade to Suite 8 into my cart. I already have Live 8, operator and sampler so I thought 164 euros seemed quite reasonable. So today I went to buy it and it's gone up to 224 euro with a little note saying 'the price has now changed'.
Not impressed.
At all.

Re: Cleaning a Roland SH-101
The best way is to strip the whole thing down so that the electronics are separate from the two parts of the case. Then give the case a gentle scrub with a soft washing up brush in warm soapy water. Rinse off with clean water and allow to dry. However, that is a long job and not for the inexperience...

Re: Upgrade to Ableton 8 or wait?
... bad vocoder, awful multi band... I think the Vocoder is excellent. It's one of the reasons I have not yet gone over to Presonus S1 (along with Sampler). The Multiband compressor is also rather good - not the best I'm sure, but certainly good enough for me. Didn't we also get the little Overdriv...

Re: Props open up Reason to UHE and other developers!
There's still Rewire!!!! Rewire isn't too bad. But automation is not as easy as VST since it has to be done within the CC editor of the Live clip. You can't pass audio to the rewire slave, nor can you pass midi from the slave back to Live. There's also a complex relationship between the audio produ...

Re: Props open up Reason to UHE and other developers!
I was so hoping that they would do this the other way around. Allow the whole Reason rack as a VST which then could be used by Live like any other VST. But no, they've isolated themselves some more. Personally, Reason 6 was a step in the wrong direction, now they're running away from me. Tony
