Do you really think that Ableton will implement multithreading in Live 7, now that every new cpu is multicore? Do you think they want to miss all those sales? IMHO, it will be in a future update to Live 5, or at last in Live 6. Your opinion, my opinion, they're all irrelevant. I don't make music ou...

They clearly stated that multithreading is going to be implemented into Ableton Live. INFORMATION CONTENT: it's coming. Try asking Apple when they will fix some old, old bugs in Logic, and you'll see who laves you completely in the dark. Look, I want multithreading badly. I own a dual G5 and I was ...

dont worry, you really can rest assured the silence is because they are working their arses off.... Frankly, whether or not Alex is around makes no difference at all. Even when Alex made interventions on this forum, he never made one about multi-threading. The subject of multiple processor support ...

Re: 10 Things Abelton need to do
10. How hard could it be to allow at least AU's./VST's to run on a different processor? Processors are not gonna get much faster in the next few years. All the speed it being derived from multi core/dual processor systems. So unless you've got a trick up your sleaves, Live is really going to underp...

Re: 5 Things Live needs to be able to do to compete.
1. allow DX plugins 2. have the option to render each track as a separate file 3. allow the option to save set as a self contained zip file 4. allow "comp" takes. (great for vocal comping) 5. playback starts right where you left off, instead of going back to the beginning of song In my op...

Multi threading is an ABSOLUTE MUST. When I bought version 4, one of the first post I made here was to request multi processor support. I then said I would buy version 5 just to show them my financial support and trust. But that was before I tried v5's demo !!! Obviously I was able to do A LOT less ...

We kind of got off of the subject. If you are thinking about going with the new dual core machines, also remember to think about whether you are going to use any audio boards. The new machines are using PCI Express slots and if you have any older PCI or PCIx boards you'll be out of luck -- they won...

I find myself working more in Logic again, where I simply cannot get the performance meter above 30%.. .. as much as I truly love Live as a compositional tool, I'm finding it more restricting as a DAW. Fix the freeze or give us dual processor support Ableton! - Mark[/quote] I couldn't agree more. An...

Ok, look, last July/August I got to see Gerhard give a demonstration of LIVE4 when it was newly born here in new york. And guess what computer he was using.....a G4 laptop. I think that a lot of these guys are using Apples....they probably want all the things that you want because, don't forget, so...

is there any reason than this for using only one audio work thread? i think that the GUI shouldn't use to much processor, since my powerbook is able to run live :D :D let's say on a dual 2ghz computer with heavy audioload it uses 100% of processor 1 and only 10% of processor 2 (for the GUI and anyt...

Hi xl5, i complety agree that Impulse is a very basic thing. Unfortunately we had no time to enhance it for Live 5. Other topics, like PDC, mp3, Mackie Support and all the other details did eat up our capacities. I personally really hope we find the time to deliver the monster Impulse for Live 6. W...

Re: More cells in Impulse?
More cells in Impulse. Although I know nothing about coding, I think it would probably be pretty simple to do, and 8 cells is just not enough. I know I can load up multiple Impulses, but c'mon now... who wants work arounds? I'm not suggesting 80-something like battery or anything... Maybe just add ...
