MPC and Live (simultaneous playback)

First off, happy new years. Second, here's my question: I'm using Live 6 and an MPC 1K connected to my Presonus Firebox. The problem is that when I try to play both Live and my MPC simultaneously, I get massive distortion for some reason. Do I need a small mixer, maybe? Thanx.

MPC into Live Question

Here's my issue: On my MPC1K, I usually bang out about 4 or 5 "tracks" per song (or sequence). I then record each separate track into L6 as a clip and arrange later. Is there any way to set up Live so that the record-armed clip in Live will begin to record only when hit play on the MP? Up ...

hey binary,

I'm running OS 2.10 now. Do you think it would load up wiht the JJ os? I rather pay the 30 instead of dealing with this HD sh*t.

Yeah, sucks for me. What's odd is that my MP recognizes the "hard disk," but does nothing when I hit "do it" to format. Very weird *ish. I hope its a faulty HD and not a messed up MP!

Sorry to hi-jack the post. I grabbed an mpc 1K compatible hard drive and I'm having trouble. I"ve installed it fine and it does recognize it, but my MP freezed each time with the word "wait" when I try to load etc. Do I need to do something before using it? My PC doesn't recognize it ...

cool. the 1K pads are nice, although they aren't full size. I tried both the red/blue pad and the black version's pads and they WERE different - the black versions are MUCH better and softer. My boy had the 2KXL - pads on the Black version are the same (as far as I can tell) but a bit smaller... Nic...

I picked up my 1K (black) about 2 weeks ago and I would NEVER go without it. Not only was the learning curve very small, but getting away from the PC was the best thing (for me anywayz). Now my *ish sounds much different and much better. I've loaded up two 2 GB flash cards with programs, instruments...

adonis, didn't mean to jump your post, we posted at the same time. I've come to terms with the fact that working on the computer is much faster (in almost all respects). But, once the programs are loaded, I've found it very easy and fast to make entire songs. I also like the mute screen, which lets ...

I tried that as well, I saved "all" and transfered whole folder to the CF card then into MP. It appears to load but there's no sound coming from the pads. I'll try again. My idea was the same as your, deck, I thought I'd create 1 folder per program (containing .pgm file and all samples) - ...

Yep. When you click on a clip in the session view, the wave or midi will appear in the lower part of the screen. On the left of the wav, there are the envelope controls for the clip. Underneath the "loop" button, you'll see 2 fields ("position" and "length"). In the len...

dez - select your clip (in the sesson view), then set the number of bars you want the clip to be (in the lower left hand side of the clip). Say you chose 4 bars, you'll see the clip get longer (i.e. to accomodate more bars). Make sure you drag the "arrow" from bar #2 to bar #4 (so that you...

I've had my 1K for a few days now and I'm glad I picked one up - it has changed the way I make music. The workflow is exactly what I was looking for and it's so easy to use (I thought it would be much more of a learning curve). One question: 1. I'd like to play my MPC along with Live (as the tracks ...

Alright. I bit. I picked up a 1K at Sam Ash - got it for $890.00 out the door (decent). I had to do it! :P Once I walked into Ash and began stroking the pads, I had to release and buy it.

Thanks to all you who helped me feed my lust for gear.

Seriously, thanks for the help.

I've been using Guru - and it's great (but not quite there yet). I've been thinking of picking up an MP1K for a while now, but I was wondering if it allows you to "auto assign" pads. For example, on guru, I load up a 4 bar loop, let's say, then Guru chops it up (in 16ths) and assigns the h...
