Re: So called "Music and Audio Production"

Nokatus tried, but his analogy of the scanner was only good for trying to explain how the wave "passes through" our ears, but seemed to strengthen my skewed argument. Because that was how I was seeing it. Like feeding a foolscap paper through a scanner, but having only letter size paper f...

Re: So called "Music and Audio Production"

However, I am still not seeing any explanation as to how one is able to hear a 60Hz sine wave in a room with no dimension bigger than say 16ft. Based on the theory I have learned, we should only be hearing the higher octaves and/or the other partials that make up the tone if it is not a pure wave. ...

Re: So called "Music and Audio Production"

Loving it so far. The headphone argument is a good one. So it makes me think that there are two ways (and maybe more) in which we experience frequencies. 1. Their Intensity & 2. The wave itself It seems to me you are just somewhat misunderstanding the "wave" bit in how we hear sound, ...

Re: Freeze clips (rather than the entire track)

I think you could simply extend the freeze function to a single clip, apply the same colour scheme to denote that the clip is frozen, and there ya go. Combining frozen and unfrozen parts on the same arrangement track would be problematic because of the conflicts between deactivated and activated ef...

Re: Anyone upgrade from 9 Suite to 10 Standard?

So actually, neither of us two have taken the exact route Kitecrazy is asking about. Yeah. If you sold the Suite completely and then first bought that same version number as Standard, and so on, it seems my route is closer to the experience he's wondering about ("So who went with Standard afte...

I'm another one :) ... Didn't have any reason to go with 10 Suite. If you decide to go this way, also take this detail into account, heh: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=229548

Re: [Piano Roll] Improvements to make the workflow faster

My guess is, you just aren't that comfortable/familiar with MIDI editing in Live yet. Most of what you are suggesting is mere preference, so there is no right or wrong answer for those. Breaking the context menu (removing the right click action that has worked universally in Live for well over a dec...

Re: VIDEO EXPORT PROBLEM

I definitely subscribe to the idea of "use what gets the job done today", yeah. It's good thinking, and it's always good to have a plan b of some sort handy -- even for the most important and often used functionality of any tool you're using. So if you need to work with video, it doesn't h...

Re: VIDEO EXPORT PROBLEM

Repeating my old and well-working work flow solution from a similar thread: My solution, in the company where I've worked for 10 years, is to use lowres reference copies in Live, export the audio as with any production and place it in a proper video editor. There are even free ones. Everyone I know...

Re: Access standard menus (File, Edit..) when in fullscreen

No mention of this in the recent beta release notes so far, at least. Just thinking out loud here, I think the alt-shortcuts not working (and thereby making it impossible to enter the menus in any way while in fullscreen mode) is actually a bug? Not that it's a high prio thing at present or anything.

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

When ever there's an issue in a technology product that is substantial enough to elicit a clear trend on forums and the like, one of the main debate devices to downplay the issue is to ask for specific numbers. What I mean by the amount of individual reports (of the format "v9 works on this sys...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

I disagree with "problematic for many users". You don't know that. You assume. That's the shape of the thing. You disagreeing with it doesn't change the amount of individual users reporting abnormal CPU use here and elsewhere. Like you said, testing is never wrong, and when there is such ...

An option to change the direction of mousewheel zoom

I'm soooo used to grabbing the timeline and zooming in by moving the mouse down, now every time I try to zoom in with CTRL + mousewheel I always turn the wheel down first, and then up :D ... Hah. An option to set the zoom direction would be nice.

Re: Im a fan of ableton live and plan to buy it one day but..

If you don't do anything shady with your license, there will be absolutely no problems with this, Ableton handles these things extremely well. And with shady I mean something really stupid like installing it on a friend's system, or clearly using it on too many systems yourself. Through the years, I...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Agreed. Also, in the mean time, it's good to have this information visible like this also on the public forum, so that people who are contemplating a move to Live 10 know that it is currently this problematic for many users, and so they will test it very thoroughly on their own system before committ...
