are you using any audio effects? are you using VST instruments for your MIDI tracks - or are you using the MIDI for external instruments? some audio effects and many VST instruments can pay a large toll on your CPU (much more than just playing back audio files). so, you may be able to load hundreds ...

I'm from the Detroit area - and I think the crowd here is no different than anywhere else. In my experience - there are always idiots who come out for these type of shows regardless of the location. I think the best year for DEMF was the first (before everyone in the world knew about it). After that...

Has anyone set up the Nord G2 to use as a controller w/Live

I am curious if anyone has set up the G2 (with parameter feedback) to use as a controller with Live. I would be interested in any suggestions or tips or templates that anyone would be willing to share. Thank you.

Automation missing when dragging an entire track into song

I am not able to import the automation that I had saved with tracks in another song when I drag a track into a new song. All of the other Arrangement data for the track appears to be there, but no automation that was saved in the original song is imported. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some...

Re: Can’t wrap my head around Audio and MIDI latency settings!

How do you deal with Track Delay when jumping from playback, to record, to over-dub? And with direct monitoring vs. internal vs. VST. I’m a little confused.. I thought it was adjusted automatically based on how you set the track monitoring. For example, if you set a track's monitoring to "Off,...

You may also want to check out the Creamware SCOPE platform. It has great effects - and also great synths - included. And it is an audio and MIDI in/out card with excellent specs (including very low latency operation). I have been very happy with the system running in XTC mode (with a couple of mino...

Sorry, but if you want to compare machines, you should try to compare models that are of comparable quality. The XPS is a higher-end Dell, the ibook is an entry-level mac. Of course they are going to be different. Compare the macbook pro 15" to the xps and then let me know how much of a differ...

The thing that bugs me about the Mac laptops is that the screen resolution is not that great. On Dell computers, you can pay a little extra and get an ultra fine resolution - which gives you more screen space. This makes a big difference when working with Live and other audio applications. (The othe...

I think it may be hard to make it work like Project 5 because of the way clips are arranged verticly in Session view. This will not allow the tracks in Arrange view to line up across the screen with the Session clips (which is how it works in Project 5). Although, I guess it may still be useful to h...

Does anyone know what is Live's MIDI resolution?

I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have asked the question to Ableton three times now - and they will not give me a straight answer on what the maximum MIDI resolution is. Sonar has 960 ppq - and I am just curious what Live operates at. I find it very weird that they don't tell you and won'...

Probably something about USB not only being slower but also less reliable, and also the fact that you can remove it. I don't know. I tried googling but nothing came up. I could be wrong. It'll be fiendishly slow and isn't it, btw, just another word for putting yer swap files where you want? I can d...

I wonder why no one ever mentions the "Cult of Dell"? Overpriced mediocre junk that has their shoe in every door and get automatic sales just due to popularity? 8O Depends what Dell you are using. I have had very good luck with Dell Latitude systems - with no hardware conflicts and great ...

Re: Memory on a USB flash drive... I've heard reports that this is a 'What the fuck are you thinking?!' moment to more technical minded people. Why would it be? Yes it is going to be slower than your regular system RAM - but it doesn't replace your system RAM - it only expands it temporarily to giv...
