One thing I'd like to clarify in my mind about session view automation: What do you mean by session view automation? Is it something different than drawing envelopes in audio/midi clips that control the parameters of that channels effects and instruments? Tone Deft's example was a good one. Think o...

You've answered your own question.

Not to mention that manually bouncing every clip to audio isn't exactly very ergonomic in the flow of composition.

hold up a minute. I can record midi automation in session view. Midi CCs, but not anything mapped via Live's midi mapping system or manipulated by hand. Should be able to make a controller with Max for Live that can record movements to clip envelopes... I don't see how, although we don't have the a...

live 8 is great but two crucial things were missed

1. recording automation into session view clips 2. program change support I know there are technical reasons why #1 is difficult but for a live app this is really essential, much more so than roll-your-own Max plugins. #2 is also essential and don't tell me that chain selectors are a decent alternat...

Try saving some patches using the sequencer/performer to a Live clip and then reloading them to a new track.

I don't care about DAW features. Make Live a good Live host. Fix the session view automation recording thing.

Oh- that one. You haven't saved the preset; it'll duplicate the default new patch, and not the one you've modified. No other synth I've tried "works" like this. It should serialize and deserialize properly. This is a bug. I've had similar issues saving and reloading Live sets where some p...

Try this: 1. load massive on a new track 2. select "new sound" or whatever it is in massive to get a new sound 3. change modulator five from lfo to performer 4. select the track in ableton 5. hit duplicate 6. open the ui of the new massive instance Notice that mod five has reverted to lfo....

Just so you know - Massive *still* doesn't save patches correctly in Live. I guess NI's too busy cranking out expansion packs to fix it.

Just as another data point, Vista 32 is running fine for me here. I blew away the standard Dell install and re-installed it with a minimum of extra software. I made a few tweaks to optimize it but nothing more than I'd do for an XP system. I tend to switch off the wireless network when I'm recording...
