Very basic MIDI recording question

I'm using 4.1.4 and I have been unable so far to record MIDI clips in session view. I haven't found anything in the docs saying you can't do this, but the recording tutorial only addresses recording MIDI clips in arrangement view (which works fine for me). I have no problem recording audio clips in ...

Very, very helpful. One issue remains ...

This is working pretty well for me with an FCB1010, as long as I record audio. It is pretty convenient to dedicate one bank per loop. I am having one problem, though. Possibly a newbie MIDI clip issue unrelated to this configuration. I am using Reason as a rewire slave, but am having difficulty reco...

Live master - Reason slave - midi input settings?

If I am using Reason as a softsynth from Live via Rewire, how should I be configuring Reason's MIDI external control busses? I seem to have to set them to my keyboard controller, but I think that is a conflict with the 'Midi from' setting in a Live session view track. I'm having trouble recording ne...

Yep. No dice. I really hope one of the new version's alpha testers has an FCB1010 or similar and is making sure there are some good live looping workflows available.

Actually, it works the way I want as long as you are in ARRANGEMENT view. Unfortunately, for live looping, I want to be working in SESSION view, and that doesn't work.

Update on this. I've discovered that tap tempo starts recording just the way you want if you are in ARRANGEMENT view and enable recording on the tool bar. It records into the arrangement. It does basically the same thing when you are in SESSION view, but that isn't quite the behavior that is needed ...

Better support for hands free looping

I hope they have tweaked the remote midi control stuff, 'cause in 4 it appears to be ALMOST exactly what's needed. I hope some of the beta testers are instrumentalists who run Live hands free using something like an FCB1010. 1) X/Y clip addressing. Version 4 seems to require you to dedicate switches...

Tap Tempo Start Recording?

Maybe you can do this with 4.1.4, but I haven't figured out how yet. If not, here is another little thing that would make a big difference when trying to use Live as a looper in real time with controllers like FCB1010. The way you can tap one measure of whatever time signature you've selected to ini...

Tap Tempo Start Recording?

The way you can tap one measure of whatever time signature you've selected to initiate PLAYBACK is cool, but what I really need is the ability to start track recording in session view instead of playback, as I'm trying to do everything by foot via FCB1010. I've tried 'start recording on scene launch...

Better session view MIDI remote control

The need to dedicate a footswitch for each track's launch, stop, etc means that by the time I've set up a couple of tracks for hands free operation, I've got no footswitches left. There already is a scene up/down. How about adding track right/left navigation? I'd like to be able to scroll to the des...

Mystery solved. My sysex dumps from the FCB 1010 editor to the FCB were configured to use the wrong MIDI out, so my board didn't have the programming I thought it did. That's what happens when you try to get too much new gear working together. Anyway, for the record, I assigned CCs 20-30 to the 10 f...

FCB1010 remote session view navigation and recording problem

I've almost got it, but there is one annoying anomaly left: I'm trying to assign FCB pedals to individual track's 'launch clip at highlighted scene' button per the doc (pg. 205 #4). I have each pedal assigned a unique CC, and send 127 on the pedal press. Currently, I'm not using the second FCB CC sl...

Thanks. I don't have one in front of me (yet), so I failed to grok the programming mode stuff. Looks like it will be a nice complement to my microKontrol.
