Audio Performance Questions Answered

Dear users, unfortunately, Live 3 will not bring a significant audio performance gain. By audio performance, we mean the number of tracks / effects you can run simultaneously without maxing out the CPU. As was said before, a significant improvement of the audio performance requires a major redesign ...

Re: Is it possible now?

Can you tell me if it is possible to use this new offset envelope to emulate the ability to have the sample offset marker outside of the loop markers? No, it's not. The offset envelope re-orders the audio *within* the loop. The abitlity to drag the offset marker before the loop unfortunately didn't...

Frankly, I too would like to read a simple, clear posting from Ableton admitting that Live is slow and that they are working on fixing this. Hi, we know about the OS X performance issues and have recently allocated a substantial amount of development time to improve the situation. As always, we can...

Hi, support for Mackie Control, HUI, and similar units will come at a point; as usual, I cannot say when. Indeed, these units cannot control Live in a satifactory way via the usual MIDI Mapping method. We have to do some programming for these boxes to work as well as they do for other DAWs. Gerhard ...

Hi, thanks for your input on the manual. We are aware of the shortcomings of the electronic version and will improve on it. Are you aware of the printed manual which comes with the Live 2 box? You can purchase the manual from Ableton if you are a Live 2 upgrade customer. Please contact michael@ablet...

Hi! Live has no way to find out about the tempo of a non-loop. When you drag in a sample, it will check if the sample has about the length to justify the assumption it is a loop and if so, guess the loop's original tempo. If the sample is longer, it will be played un-warped by default. This default ...

seeing as Ableton are listening it would be interesting to see what they think.. Sorry I can only provide a somewhat diplomatic answer, as we don't want to raise any expectations: we still have lots to do with the current feature set! Meanwhile, we are listening closely to discussions like this one...

Drag a 170BPM clip to a cell, and the original BPM is figured at 165 BPM (The project tempo). Now, either one or two things happen: 1. The clip plays for a bar, then fuzz is played for a bar. This happens when the clip is correctly marked as a 1 bar clip, but the tempo is wrong. or 2. It plays on i...

Gentlemen, please take the time to read the following thoroughly as we need you to understand some background so you can help us trace down the problem. First, we should rule out MIDI sync-related problems. A drift of Live's internal tempo with respect to an external tempo source in a MIDI sync scen...

Re: extensive testing-audio clicks and pops...

Within Live a glitchy pop can be head in some audio files -sometimes its consistent and sometimes not- but I am discovering they usually occur were a beat marker is. Hi, I can hardly imagine the update would have incurred clicks, so let's find out exactly what this is about. To track this down, fir...
