Backlit keys and larger screen are nice.. but day to day I need something small. In the studio and playing music live I'll keep the macbook closed with an external 19" LCD, deticated controllers and a mouse.
Whatever does the job!

As far I'm concerned the raw cpu performance difference between the MacBook and MacBook Pro is almost none. Yes the Pro has better video, more expandability and such - but for running live it should be close to the same.. and considering the price difference... I'm picking up my MacBook (white) next...

I think dual monitor means having different for example session on one and arrangement on the other.. Or, like logic, where you can have screensets of whatever you want. OH! Forgot, for me, having' plugin's on the second screen would be very nice....... as long as they aren't floating windows.. The...

Although I think reinstalling your system once a month is a little much - I use Live to perform and work regularly on pre-show prep and I have often had to switch hardware last minute and it's a real pain to not be able to log into Ableton's site and request a new authorization and cancel an old one...

Anyone knows if the dual monitor support is granted in Live 6 ? Because I'm about to buy a second monitor from a sales i have found... :o As far as I can tell you can strech LIVE across 2 monitors (or more) no problem. I've got dual 21s and it works ok. WHat I'd like to see though would be a way of...

Maybe but it is a little oversized to go djing with (unless you've convinced the people your playing for to have it as the house mixer, which I guess isn't impossible). If they want you to play I'm sure they can handle a pair of balenced inputs into the house system or line input of the existing mi...

It needs a mode where you can FULLY map MIDI. Anything(s) to anything(s) with the ability to set ranges and what not. If no company is going to give us a controller that fits every need, let us configure the software to fit our needs based on these shitty controllers :) :) YES - A way of linking 1 ...

It doesn't seem to be anything but an oversized, overpriced MIDI controller and audio interface. What should it be? The fact it combines a solid dj mixer, control surface and audio interface is great. That plus a laptop and a few extra bits and you're done! Considering the price of all three types ...

I'm looking to pick one up as well in the months to come. 1 big selling point for me is that it keeps a live rig very small. Laptop + 3D + few extra synths. I recently downloaded the manual and it looks like it ships with a rack mount kit as well - good news as it looked too big for one in the picts.

Line tool for editing MIDI automation?
Does this exist in the current version? If not - it should!
Steinberg's Cubase has such a tool and it's excellent. I know I can do volume automation, but thats not helpful. Perhaps a key and mouse click would make the edit tool turn into a line tool?!
