Re: Equipment for a live setup
I've used and had more expensive monitors, but keep coming back to Event ASP8's. But, this is for live use. Monitors would need covers over the speakers. If transporting, you'll rip the cones. You need some decent but cheapish speakers. How 'bout a pair of Mackie SRM 450's? They can be transported e...

Aren't most of the Drum Machines kits from Operator? I think they are very good.

Re: How do you edit audio in the sample display/note editor with
Not sure exactly what you're asking but... I will often times create a tracks called "Refuse". I'll drag it to where I want in the arrangement review as "swapping" track to put the cuts and pastes/edits from the track I'm working on. I'll usually use the + and - keys to enlarge a...

Re: How do you edit audio in the sample display/note editor with
I do all audio editing by dragging into the arrangement. Or I use an external editor.
I don't think you can edit in session view.

Re: Resampling the whole output to one clip in realtime?
Your recorded resample clip should be in the scene below the one with all the tracks you are recording. Then you launch that scene. It should launch that recorded clip and stop the rest of the clips. If recording your resample clip in the same scene, launching the next scene would stop all clips and...

Re: Simple Midi/Audio Looping - Driving me insane. . .
Hmm. I've never used a sustain pedal for anything other than a sustain pedal. Does it work equivalently as a MIDI footswitch? If you were playing a bass drum with it, I would think it would MIDI map. If you could map the MIDI footswitch to switch to the next scene thru MIDI mapping, then you could a...

Re: Simple Midi/Audio Looping - Driving me insane. . .
As far as I know, to have hands free to play your instrument, you need a foot pedal. The FCB 1010 works fine for that. (You launch with a cue countdown and then press the pedal to stop it just before you are done with your part.) It should stop recording and launch automatically. I don't know of a w...

Re: Which LIVE mixer ?
What is it that you do that need a mixer for, rather than just have a good I/O interface (like a Fireface 800) and have all you instruments running into the interface? I could easily control an external effect device, guitars, keyboards, etc. without the use of a mixer by using a Fireface 800 and AP...

Re: is Session Drums worth it?
It is definitely up there with BFD2. The expansion packs for BFD2 elevate that, but at quite a cost. If looking at equal expenditure (if not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars in expansion material), I'd lean toward session drums because it is integrated and the Drum Rack makes things so easy. How...

Re: ableton 7, recording vst automation data
Live will only record automation data in the arrangement view when you have the record button enabled in the transport. If you have tweaked other parameters in session view after that recording, you will see the Back to Arrangement button light up on the transport panel. Pressing that should take you...

Re: PS3 vs Xbox 360 for meeee....
I'd go for the PS3. The Blu-Ray is an excellent one.
There are plenty of games--some great. OK--No Halo. Big deal.
If there are not enough gaming options for you on the PS3, then you won't have time to be doing music.
Don't get a gaming system. Big waste of time.

Re: APC40 TIPS --- Share Your Brainz!
I've been thinking about coordinating the use of the Behringer FCB 1010 with the APC 40. The 1010 allowed me to easily arm and launch recording without any trouble. What if you were to use scene launch. There is a setting in preferences that I have enabled that allows automatic recording into slots ...

Re: strategies for a live set
Freeze and resampling are necessary. Think about getting an external effects unit. (I use a Kurzweil KSP8, but Lexicon has some very good cheaper units.) That way you don't have to rely on CPU for reverb and delay (CPU killers). Also, many sample libraries have 16bit options-- a huge savings in CPU.

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
Can you use the APC 40 with full control and Novation Remote SL with Automap 3.0 at the same time? Not sure what you mean by "full control". I had no problems working the Novation Remote 25SL with automapping at the same time as the APC 40. No glitches that I saw. I'll try locking control...
