I'm sure this will all be painfully obvious once I have it in front of me, sadly they still have not arrived at any of the stores in my area yet... Word is they'll be in today though :) Not so sure about that. After using Windows for many years, there are many things I find about OSX that are not o...

So you're just saying that instead of minimizing windows to the task bar, OSX closes windows from view completely? If so, how do you open it back up, if clicking on dashboard opens a new instance of the app? I'm sure this will all be painfully obvious once I have it in front of me, sadly they still...

Re: XP to OSX?
- Any tips and tricks you'd recommend to an Apple newbie? some simple shortcuts that are very handy in OSX: apple + TAB = switching programs F9 = overview of the open windows F11 = see the desktop select file + apple + delete = file goes straight to trash Also: apple + ~ = switching among open wind...

One thing to watch out for that I just ran into - when you drag a folder to a location where a folder with the same name already exists, you will receive a prompt asking if you would like to replace the folder (same as XP). However, unlike XP, if you say yes to replace the folder, OSX deletes all of...

Macbook/Macbook Pro Audio Specs = Frustration
Anyone here happen to know the detailed specs for the built-in audio in the Macbook and Macbook Pro? E.g., do the inputs have 24-bit converters? I am more curious than anything since I would likely be using an external firewire device (although, the internal audio may come in handy when on the road ...

OSX is a resource hungry OS and so is Vista (and even XP uses more resources than I would prefer). It would be great to skip the OS altogether and just boot directly to Live. That way all of the horsepower of my CPU and RAM could be dedicated to doing one thing. Or, if someone could create a Music O...

I have worked with a number of different programs (including Sonar and Cubase). I will tell you that Sonar and Cubase definitely have more comprehensive DAW features compared to Live. What Live offers in my opinion is the feeling that you are working with a true musical instrument. I think of myself...

Relying on individuals to label posts correctly probably will not work. I vote for a seperate off topic section. I don't think it would stop anyone from coming here - it not that difficult to click on a seperate link to see what people are talking about that is off topic. In my opinion, there should...

To summarize: USB2 bad. Firewire better. why? In addition to higher sustained data transfer rates, it's also my understanding that the Firewire interface relies less on your CPU than USB to process incoming and outgoing audio streams. Therefore, using a USB audio device at low latency will likely u...

I use both a mac and a PC and find that Windows is faster and easier in many ways (as long as you avoid spyware and viruses). Don't get me wrong, I like the mac a lot, but there are certain things that really annoy me - for example, not always being able to right click (or use the same shortcuts) to...

My question is how many people are out there who do not participate in this forum using a cracked version of Live regularly? Of course, that can't be captured here. One thing that I have found is that when you only use software you buy, you make very careful choices (because money is involved) inste...
